What we really want to know is - is there a China microcap ETF? ReplyExchange-Traded Funds and Closed-End Funds by Asset Class, Type and Provider [view article]
can you please update this list? thanks. ReplyCore Building Blocks: Large, Mid & Small Cap US ETFs [view article]
It seems to me that Vanguard's VV (Large Cap) effectively includes VO (Mid cap) -- reading their description, the VV tracks MSCI Prime 750, which the VO tracks MSCI Midcap 450, and the MSCI site says that the Prime 750 includes the Midcap 450! Does anyone have any idea why they "double-up" the midcap? I.E. My initial plan was to split 33% of my US allocation to each of VV/VO/VB, but on further examination I see that this would give me overexposure to the midcaps. Thoughts/comments? Thanks! ReplyEditors

Is this a buy or a sell? ReplyUS Small Cap and Microcap ETFs [view article]
After reading this and several other articles on ETFs, primarily those investing in commodities and particularly gold, I am a bit amazed that some fund manager has not picked up on Bullion Monarch Mining - BULM. A company which is about 50 yrs old, has assets similar in nature and quality (if not better) than Royal Gold, has no debt and has about $20mil+ in earnings with NO debt. Don't believe me check it SEC filings, or its Web at bullionmm.com.Reply

So anything 1 SD below its 50 day MA is oversold and due to rise? By that standard, I'll bet there were a ton of screaming good buys in late 2001. What goes down may go up, but not necessarily immediately. Sometimes what goes down keeps going down, for good reason.. Replycom

Comment from 'trustdnb':It has been noted by Seigel and others that the notorious January effect is evident mostly in small caps (and to a lesser extent value stocks). But I would be curious to know if this smallcap outperformance persists in downmarkets as well as upmarkets. If the market is still in a downward spiral as we head into January '08, would it make sense to sell SPY against IWM/IWN? Reply

That's interesting. Do you have any theories on why this might be the case? I could see new 401k contributions possibly having an impact, but would think that this trend would be consistent for the full quarter or first half of the year, if this was the reason behind it.
