Buying Financials Amidst New Institutional Accumulation [view article]
This article mentions the rogue trader Kerviel as working at Credit Suisse, vice UBS, both Swiss banks. Kerviel was, in fact, an employee of Societe Generale, a French Bank. Swiss bankers are not that out of sorts now, are they? Mon Dieu! ReplyBuying Financials Amidst New Institutional Accumulation [view article]
Thank you for finally providing some rational commentary that doesn't involve small probability discussions of the end of the world. Replyrver

There is no suicidal action in investing in BBT bank. Solid well capitalized and no sub-prime toxins. 7% looks pretty good for this investor vs 3% on treasuries. ReplyBuying Financials Amidst New Institutional Accumulation [view article]
No surprise authors remain anonymous given what they're advocating. Suicidal tendencies noted. ReplyPereira

First of all, Renesola had a 52 week high of $14.19 and priced it's IPO at $13. $82 is inaccurately shown on Yahoo! Finance and is wrong.Secondly, China Finance Online has a P/E of 42 based on 2007 earnings. You may be using Yahoo!'s data again, which is dated.
Finally, The reason why Home Inns trades at a high PEG is that they are spending a lot of money building new hotels. Once the pace of expansion slows, capex will shrink and profits will expand.
I don't own any of these companies and have no intention of doing so. Baidu, Shanda and Ctrip are much better investments in my opinion. Reply

I largely agree with fxtrader07, though it depends on the business. For example, Ctrip and Home Inns have very little to do with the US economy – they serve the domestic market. That’s one reason why I have positions in both, despite their rich valuations. ReplyAre You Short or Long China? [view article]
How do you calculate a PE for China Finance On-Line of 172?Looks to me like its about 45 on 07 earnings and about 28 on projected 08 earnings. Its growing at 50%.
Looks like a bargin to me.

Why does GSH appeal to you? How does the recent heavy snow affect its load factor and earnings? ReplyAre You Short or Long China? [view article]
the chinese can have it both ways. the americans can't.face it, the motherland of all bubbles (i.e. the u.s.) is of declining importance to nations like china. sure, they will feel the negative impact of a recession. but it won't matter to them even half as much as a few years ago Reply

The big question is whether China is "de-linked" from the US economy. If we head into a deep and long recession, how will this affect China? Before, when everything was looking great the China story was all about globalization; but now that our economy is looking terrible, we say China is de-linked. We cannot have it both ways. Reply

China Finance Online Remains a One Trick Pony [view article]
China, will be backing off this year. They already have started. They have bit off a big chunk, now they need to digest and get their economy under control. They realize that they have grown too fast. Realizing that the commodity markets can cause their expansion to fizzle. Which would be a large head ache. They need to get their regulations, checks and balances inline and under control for another expansion within a few years. ReplyChinese Tech Stock Weekly Summary [view article]

Yes, I think Chinese ADRs are getting hit unfairly here. The American big boys are making fortunes from China connection, and as soon as the small investors tries to make a few bucks from action, stocks go down here unnaturally here. No woder that a lot of people think that the Wall St is full of crooks !!!I have been following LDK, an ADR in the solar sector.I am sorry to say that I feel if LDK were an US company, it's stock would have performed much better. I feel that a lot of US analysts, including some, whom I really admire, show a negative bias against Chinese stocks. And this kind of negative psychology, supported by a couple of "blown out of proportions" issues have created unfair turbulence around the stock price.
I myself would like to see some protectionist measures to support our ailing industries here, but not this way. I hate to see our big boys here selling out our industrial manufacturing muscle to foreign countries, in the name of globalization, and for huge profits for only a handful, while most of the country suffers.
But thousands of US citizens make investments in Chinese ADRs, and deserve fair treatments. Reply
