Thursday Outlook: Sectors and International [view article]
David, I always look forward to these reports and find them extremely helpful. However on your DBA comments, while wheat planted area was down in the US last year, that is no longer the case. Corn acerage is now down, wheat and soyabeans has increased and is expected to increase for 08/09. See the Dec. 11, 2007 U.S. Wheat Associates report for the latest, slide 56.www.uswheat.org/supply...# Reply

30 ETFs With the Highest Short Interest Ratios [view article]
The Bespoke commentary is founded on a fundamental misunderstanding of what ETFs are - and are not. With stocks high short interest or percentage of outstanding shares held short reveals potential for a snap rise if all at once the shorters have to cover their positions by buying back their stock. The ratio is meaningful in a stock where the shares in question are all there are. The ratio is not meaningful in a typical ETF where the shorts only represent a tiny amount of the underlying stocks (the index) in question.will@etfzone.com

Thanks for the articlo, I vote for a new portfolio. If you find this interesting, you could compare how an asset allocation portfolio of the major asset classes would be weighted differently based on modern portfolio theory v. post-modern portfolio theory. Cheers! ReplyAn All-ETF Portfolio With Exposure To Narrow Themes [view article]
Good stuff, Roger. But I'd like to see what you can come up with for today's investor that isn't so sector specific. Given today's market, what ETFs would you use for an all-around asset allocation based on market cap, foreign and domestic participation, and assuming a moderately aggressive investor? Thanks ReplyAn All-ETF Portfolio With Exposure To Narrow Themes [view article]
