- Monday, February 25, 8:54 AM Coach (COH) still has over twice the revenue and lusher margins than Michael Kors (KORS), argues Barron's as it dissects the handbag market. Though shares of KORS have been outperforming COH by a wide margin, the Coach business model which allows it to sell volume at lower prices through its outlet channel while still maintaining a fashion-forward boutique presence is still working. Asian markets also hold promise for the retailer. The Barron's bounce is in play, COH +1.5% premarket. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 19, 7:15 PM Sellers in the 25M share secondary of Michael Kors (KORS) include some of its biggest holders, who are apparently looking to cash in from the stock's recent runup. Its biggest seller is Hong Kong private-equity firm Sportswear Holdings, who is selling around 20M shares and reducing its current 15.6% ownership stake to 5.8%. Michael Kors, the company's namesake and chief creative officer, will offer 3M shares, thus lowering his current 3.9% stake to 2.4%. Shares -2.3% AH. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 19, 4:42 PM Not wasting any time following the shelf filing, Michael Kors (KORS) announces a 25M share secondary offering, with underwriters granted a 30-day option for another 3.75M shares. Shares -2.5% AH. (PR) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 19, 4:16 PM Michael Kors (KORS) files a shelf offering for the sale of ordinary shares "from time to time." The stock is active, but currently flat in AH trade. Comment! [Breaking News, Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 19, 7:31 AM Citigroup adds Michael Kors (KORS) to its Top Picks Live List. The firm thinks the retailer's comparable-store sales will continue to soar and beat estimates. KORS +1.6% premarket. Comment! [Consumer]

Premarket gainers: STEM +30%. ZIOP +14%. KORS +12%. MAS +8%. AVP +7%. HERO +7%. BCS +7%. GY +6%. OPXA +6%. GTE +5%.
Losers: MELA -17%. ORIG -5%. WNS -5%.
Comment! [On the Move] - Tuesday, February 12, 8:09 AM Shares of Coach (COH) move 0.5% lower in premarket trading after a stellar quarter from Michael Kors (KORS) (I, II) makes it crystal clear which retailer is winning the handbag war. After being decidedly on-trend during the holiday period and executing nicely on the margin front, Michael Kors is proving to be a strong brand instead of just a fad. KORS +10.2% to $62.75 premarket, marking an all-time high for shares. 2 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 12, 7:18 AM More on Michael Kors (KORS) FQ3: The retailer blows past the estimates of analysts as comparable store sales soared 41.4%. A sharp 75% sales increase in the North America wholesale segment is tied to the strong comparable stores sales growth and ongoing conversion to shop-in-shops in department stores. The company raises its estimate for Q4 revenue to $515M-$525M vs. $513 consensus. KORS +10.5% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Consumer, Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, February 12, 7:01 AM Michael Kors (KORS): FQ3 EPS of $0.64 beats by $0.23. Revenue of $636.8M (+70.4% Y/Y) beats by $96.5M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News]

- Friday, January 25, 9:48 AM Goldman Sachs backs Michael Kors (KORS +1.3%) to report a solid FQ3 after watching Coach stumble during the holiday season. The consensus from retail analysts is that the retailer is running circles around many of its rivals amid a tight luxury market. Comment! [Consumer]
- Wednesday, January 23, 11:07 AM A number of retail analysts think Michael Kors (KORS +0.1%) is a screaming buy with shares dipping after Coach's revenue in North America fell flat. Though macroeconomic influences were a factor behind Coach's sluggish sales, it's also becoming more evident that Michael Kors continues to take down share in the handbag market. 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, January 23, 7:27 AM Luxury stocks are on watch after Coach posts a disappointing sales quarter in North America. Premarket: KORS -2.5%, RL -1%, TIF -0.9%. 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, January 16, 10:28 AM Heard during the presentation by Michael Kors (KORS -1.8%) at the ICR XChange Conference: 1) The company estimates the global luxury goods market will grow to $320B-$333B by 2015, from a level of $283B in 2012. 2) The retail store base in North American will be expanded to over 400 in the long-term. 3) The retailer brushes off the concerns from analysts over holiday markdowns. (webcast) Comment! [Consumer]
- Wednesday, January 9, 10:13 AM Retail analyst Rahul Sharma raises the possibility that purse strings in China could be loosening again after retail sales in the nation came in strong recently and Macau gambling picked up again. Good news from China's high-end spenders would also be good news for Tiffany's (TIF +0.8%), Ralph Lauren (RL +0.8%), Coach (COH +0.9%), Estee Lauder (EL +0.7%), and Michael Kors (KORS +0.4%). 1 Comment [Consumer]

$KORS is down today, but looks like it is setting up nicely in its base. Hope we don't get another SPO when it hits new highs :) - View all 0 replies

Ocean Man: Last one was Feb 12th. Next one should be around May 12th, but Yahoo says June 10th which is probably wrong.

Philip Saglimbeni: there is definitely retail weakness from my perspective, I know that Michael Kors himself is selling substantial amounts of shares as well -
Bret Kenwell: Yeah, that's always a little concerning. Could have his reasons I'm sure. But not exactly reassuring IMO.
