- Tuesday, June 18, 3:05 PM Shares of Kohl's (KSS -0.9%) are a bit skittish after director Peter Sommerhauser unloaded $2M worth of stock. The move follows recent sales by the retailer's CFO and Chief Administrative Officer. (Form 4) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

Losers: NCT -53%. SNFCA -24%. AMD -10%. NQ -7%. CYCC -5%. Comment! [On the Move] - Thursday, May 16, 7:57 AM Shares of Kohl's (KSS) gain 7.1% premarket after the retailer beats profit estimates handily and notes strengthening sales trends. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, April 9, 10:31 AM Department store stocks (M, SKS, SHLD, KSS, DDS) are trading lower in the wake of the divorce of Ron Johnson from J.C. Penney and a report on retail chain store sales that leaned to the soft side. It's a move that some analysts see as slightly curious with the weather-related delay to the spring selling season only a temporary bump and with J.C. Penney seemingly a punch or two away from a knockout that could bleed some sales to peers. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, March 5, 8:29 AM Retail winners today include Ascena Retail Group (ASNA) and American Apparel (APP), both up double-digits after reporting solid earnings. Both companies blasted past the estimates of analysts as sales were boosted by a strong online business. It continues a trend of smaller retail chains chipping away at department stores online, highlighted dramatically by J.C. Penney's (JCP) online meltdown (-34.4% Q4, -37% Q3) and to a much lesser extent by growth rates at Dillard's (DDS), Kohl's (KSS), Sears (SHLD), Saks (SKS), and Nordstrom (JWN). 2 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, February 28, 7:24 AM Kohl's Corporation (KSS) declares $0.35/share quarterly dividend, 9% increase from prior dividend of $0.32. Forward yield 3.00%. For shareholders of record Mar. 13. Payable Mar. 27. Ex-div date Mar. 11. Shares -1.2% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Dividends, On the Move]
- Wednesday, February 20, 10:06 AM Shares of Kohl's (KSS +2.4%) run higher after BMO issues a note to clients identifying the retailer as a tempting buyout target. The firm cites the attractive valuation on Kohl's and its strong free cash flow in making its call. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, February 7, 8:49 AM Shares of Kohl's (KSS) move up 2.8% premarket after the retailer obliterated the same-store sale estimates of analysts by recording a 13.3% gain during the month. The company says the sales boost was broad with all lines of business except footwear achieving double-digit comparable sales growth. Doubting Thomas alert: Some retail analysts are far from dazzled by the number as they wait for the other shoe to drop. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, February 7, 8:35 AM Kohl (KSS) Jan. same-store sales: +13.3% vs. consensus of 3.1. Total sales +34.1% to $1.13B. Shares +2.4% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 3, 8:36 AM Kohl (KSS) Dec. same-store sales: +3.4%. Total sales +4% to $3.4B. Shares -3.5% premarket. (PR) 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]

- Wednesday, October 31, 2012, 10:04 AM Mall-based retailers and department stores are holding up relatively well in early trading after the effect of Hurricane Sandy was lined up as a major Q4 headwind. The trick now is to figure out which retail firms can recover lost sales. Two notables exceptions to the subdued trading pattern - J.C. Penney (JCP -4.8%) and Sears (SHLD -6.5%) - had a slightly higher percentage of stores in the path of Hurricane Sandy than the average in the sector. 12 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, October 4, 2012, 8:40 AM Kohl (KSS) Sep same-store sales: -2.7% misses consensus of -0.2%. Total sales -1.4% to $1.61B. Shares -2.8% premarket. (PR) 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, August 30, 2012, 10:14 AM Shares of Kohl's (KSS +2.8%) trade higher after the retailer reports a better-than-expected increase in same-store sales. CEO Kevin Mansell says better merchandise and new marketing strategies contributed to the boost. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

That drop in sales at $JCP had to go somewhere... Obviously a tiny bit went to $AMZN, here's hoping $KSS was a beneficiary. Long $48c May. - View all 4 replies
