Monday, April 1, 8:09 AM Lear (LEA) announces acceleration of a stock buyback plan. The company will repurchase $800M of its shares by the end of the year, completing an existing $1B repurchase program and will subsequently commence a new $750M buyback. As a result of the move, Marcato Capital and Oskie Capital agree to withdraw their nominees for Lear's board and support the company's nominees instead. Comment!

Net earnings surged, boosted by a massive tax benefit and improving core earnings, which were driven by a 14% rise in revenue in its Americas segment and a 13% gain in Asia, and helped to offset a 9% decline in Europe.
