- Thursday, September 20, 2012, 6:50 PM Cantor's Youssef Squali has launched coverage on the Internet sector with a relatively bullish stance: he predicts online ads, online travel, and U.S. e-commerce will respectively post CAGRs of 16%, 10%, and 14% through 2014. Companies receiving Buy ratings: GOOG, FB, AMZN, ACOM, VCLK, CPRS, NFLX, VPRT, PCLN, EXPE. Receiving Hold ratings: EBAY, YHOO, YELP, DHX, LNKD, SFLY, OWW. Comment! [Tech]
- Monday, September 17, 2012, 2:14 PM LinkedIn (LNKD) brags it now has over 10M registered U.K. users, or 4 out of every 5 professionals in the country. The business social networking giant recently claimed 62% of its 160M+ registered users, but only 1/3 of its revenue, now come from international markets. 2 Comments [Tech]
- Friday, September 14, 2012, 10:57 AM Recent Internet IPOs are staging a big rally. FB +4.6%. ZNGA +5%. GRPN +7.4%. LNKD +3.8%. YELP +5.4%. A positive Raymond James report on Facebook's ad efforts could be helping, but it looks like short-covering is a major factor. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move]
- Thursday, September 6, 2012, 6:51 PM Some LinkedIn (LNKD) news: 1) LinkedIn is adding Facebook-like notifications to its site, with the goal of boosting user engagement rates that are well below many other social networking platforms. 2) LinkedIn's mobile apps (used by 23% of unique users) have received major overhauls. 3) CEO Jeff Weiner boasts LinkedIn has 12K enterprise customers, over 2M company profile pages, and over 1M groups, and that 62% of users (but only 1/3 of sales) are now international. 3 Comments [Tech]
- Wednesday, September 5, 2012, 9:58 AM LinkedIn (LNKD +3.4%) trades higher after Jefferies starts coverage at Buy as part of a broader launch for the Internet sector. The firm sees LinkedIn delivering a "beat and raise" Q3 report thanks to conservative guidance, and touts its ability to keep taking share in all 3 of its business segments (job postings, ad sales, and subscriptions) via differentiated solutions. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Tuesday, August 21, 2012, 11:48 AM LinkedIn (LNKD +3%) rallies on a bullish note from ITG Research. The firm thinks Q3 revenue will come in at $253.8M, soundly above a $242.9M consensus that itself rose following LinkedIn's strong Q2 report. ITG believes higher order volumes and revenue/customer will produce a beat. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Friday, August 3, 2012, 12:49 PM Investors may have soured on Facebook, but they still love LinkedIn (LNKD +14.1%), whose booming job listings business fueled a Q2 sales beat and guidance hike. LinkedIn is less dependent on ads (28% of revenue) than Facebook (FB), and that makes mobile far less of a threat. Goldman (Buy) is encouraged by new revenue streams such as Sales Navigator, but Evercore (Equal Weight) remains worried about LinkedIn's valuation. [On the Move] - Friday, August 3, 2012, 8:43 AM The beat in the monthly NFP number could help shares of sensitive employment-related stocks. The usual suspects such as KFRC, MAN, RHI, ASGN, and KELYA could get a lift, while even online players MWW and LNKD could catch some buyers. Comment! [Consumer, Quick Ideas]
- Thursday, August 2, 2012, 4:31 PM More on LinkedIn's Q2: Hiring Solutions revenue +107% Y/Y and now 53% of total, evidence company is quickly taking share from Monster (MWW). Marketing Solutions (ads) +64%, Premium Subscriptions +82%. U.S. 65% of revenue, up slightly from Q1. Deferred revenue +10% Q/Q to $192M. EMEA sales nearly doubled Y/Y to $50M. - Thursday, August 2, 2012, 4:19 PM LinkedIn (LNKD): Q2 EPS of $0.16 in-line. Revenue of $228.2M (+89% Y/Y) beats by $12.5M. Expects Q3 revenue of $235M-$240M, mostly above $235.2M consensus. Expects 2012 revenue of $915M-$925M, above $908.4M consensus. Shares +3.7% AH. (PR) 2 Comments [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, August 2, 2012, 10:55 AM Monster Worldwide (MWW -15.5%) slumps after posting disappointing results. Not only did revenue fall off 12% compared to last year, the company lowered the bar considerably for profit in Q3. Should LinkedIn (LNKD -0.7%) be worried? Comment! [Consumer, On the Move, Tech]

Thursday, August 2, 2012, 10:00 AM
LinkedIn (LNKD +0.5%) is due to report Q2 earnings after the bell today, with analysts estimating that EPS jumped 60% to $0.16 and revenue 78% to $215.7M. LinkedIn is "an impressive corporation," says SA author Skyler Greene, but "investors shouldn't be rushing to buy shares." That's because "the company is dramatically overvalued."

- Friday, July 27, 2012, 9:34 AM Facebook (FB -13.2%) plunges after meeting lowballed estimates, but reporting major slowdowns in Payments growth, Western user growth, and U.S. ad impressions, as well as huge spending hikes. The ad impression drop is fueling concerns the shift to mobile is doing more damage than thought. Analysts are mostly staying positive: Needham expects mobile monetization to improve as advertisers get more comfortable with the platform. ZNGA -2.7%. LNKD -4.7%. RENN -3.1%. Zeus2012: TSLA is a retail trap. People buying this stock are making a political statement than a financial one. I'm neither long nor short. -

Zeus2012: Remember - Ken Sena's target is a 1-year target of $210. For the stock to pop, revenues and EBITA must significantly exceed. -
Zeus2012: We're talking about a non-GAAP EPS of something like $0.45 vs consensus of $0.31.

So everyone agrees that $LNKD is overvalued based on TTM P/E (798), have we considered $FB, now with a TTM P/E over 2,800? - View all 8 replies
-
James Sands: LNKD uses your data to package services to corporations, but they also allow the incentive to network and get leads to members. -
James Sands: FB users prefer the site to share pictures, communicate and engage socially, now FB must figure out how to give a different benefit???
