GM Best Stock Today - Fast Money Recap (9/2/08) [view article]
when it comes to $ there is no emotion, patriotism or ethics.that has to be pretty clear by now i would think. ReplyGM Best Stock Today - Fast Money Recap (9/2/08) [view article]
Why would anyone sell GM short or any large corporation short? That's a dangerous move plus I have always felt you have to be a little sick to want or to gamble on hugh American companies such as GM to go bankrupt.Daniel Kowkabany Reply

ISV worth a look, good fundamentals, there were spikes on Thursday and Friday despite a bad market. A cup and handle was formed maybe in anticipation of good earnings. ReplyEli Hoffmann

PJ568, thanks for your feedback. We largely report adjusted earnings. This is due to the fact that analyst consensus estimates, which are the gauge by which many judge whether a given company has beaten or missed expectations, are formulated based on adjusted earnings. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Many of the numbers referenced above appear to be adjusted and not actual. WB and BSX are two that jumped out as being off. One would expect adequate disclosure from the SA Editor about the numbers being referenced. Constantly reporting and discussing adjusted numbers is a sign of weakness that shouldn't be ignored. It is amazing that so much of the financial health of the western world hinges on the performance of these public / private entities Fannie and Freddie. I was once a stockholder (liked the dividend), but sold when it became apparent to me a few years ago that I did not understand who the management worked for. If they are a cornerstone of the economy, the performance of their management needs to be judged by a standard of security, not growth of EPS, which drove them away from their government mission toward chasing the returns of sub-prime loans. Then the government wanted them to broaden the size of loans that they would handle. Despite hating a larger role for government, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that they neeed to be publicly owned and directed. Ugh. I can't believe that I said that. why pay attention to moody,s? why pay attention to anybody? all have an agenda & its not to put money in your pocket.once you know that selfserving lying & greed is the game you should think for yourself. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
well looks like Moody's go unlished playing the rating game again without foundation or facts and just based on speculation. They need to reinstate triple A ratings on some of the bond insurers that were downgraded unjustifiably ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
And I'm going from T-Mobile to T when the next gen iPhone arrives, in most part for the phone, but also for better coverage in MA west of Boston. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Eli, Would you please list the closing prices of the stocks you write about. This would save a great deal of time for your devoted readers. Thank you1 ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Like Rob L. I, too, am one of those VZ to T in November when my two year cell phone contract runs out. ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
I'm one of those VZ to T for the Iphone come June when my 2 year wireless contract ends.Reply

Regarding Netflix (NFLX) see both;www.crossprofit.com/se...

Slowing growth is what management is talking about which in return should eventually reduce the P/E multiple. In order to maintain a 35/40 multiple, there can NOT be any signs of weakness as we are seeing now.
The 50+% boost from BBI's demise was overdone.
Toudo.com and YOUKU (free Chinese sites) are still free and when they start charging customers (and pay royalties) they will not only be legitimate competition but will cost less than NFLX. Their cost structure is lower and are willing to work on smaller margins.
AMZN and AAPL don't have the traffic that these two have outside the U.S.... also, both are upgrading their servers for faster on-line streaming (no need to download).
It is beginning to look like a five-way-horse-race, assuming BBI gives up altogether.

Is this a buy or a sell? ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Numbers are always decieving to the mathamaticlly challenged. Especially during these times of so called crisis. Throwing money out to the public will only cause further pains down the road if no road map is used or planned spending utilized. Our economy though, does need to move on even though problems exist at all levels. Working together instead of deflating our existences truly will help. Let's hope the road is a smooth one. Reply
