Midday top 10 gainers: CHCI +45%. RVLT +35%. UEPS +24%. LIVE +20%. UTSI +20%. ECYT +11%. MFRM +10%. STSI +10%. PGTI +10%. GSL +10%.
Midday top 10 losers: ASTM -38%. EVBS -23%. ISNS -19%. ATOS -14%. CLF -15%. BAA -13%. GV -12%. LOGM -11%. MBLX -11%. LEDS -10%. Comment! [On the Move] - Wednesday, March 27, 10:03 AM Mattress stocks in focus: Tempur Pedic (TPX +3.6%) trades higher after Mattress Firm (MFRM +6.7%) misses estimates with its Q4 earnings report and issues relatively in-line guidance. Though Raymond James is out with a defense on Mattress Firm, the momentum rally in the sector looks a bit overdone to some traders. 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, March 26, 4:10 PM Mattress Firm (MFRM): Q4 EPS of $0.30 misses by $0.03. Revenue of $258.2M (+37% Y/Y) misses by $3.34M. Shares -2.9% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, On the Move]
- Friday, March 22, 8:18 AM Stifel Nicolaus upgrades Mattress Firm (MFRM) to a Buy rating from Hold with a $37 price target. Shares of MFRM are 1.7% higher premarket while the mattress sector (TPX, ZZ, SCSS) is on watch for a sympathy rally. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Friday, January 25, 8:12 AM Things are all topsy-turvy in the mattress sector. Though both Tempur-Pedic (TPX) and Select Comfort (SCSS) reported weak sales trends (I, II), TPX is up 16.5% premarket while SCSS is off 15.6% as the former company beat estimates and the latter one lagged. The most important message flowing out from the sector is that both sales and margins fell during Q4. Mattress Firm (MFRM) is up 1.1% premarket, while Sealy (ZZ) is inactive, but both look set for some volatility of their own. 1 Comment [Consumer, On the Move]

After-hours top gainers, as of 5:15 p.m.: AVAV +10%. AMRS +7%. STMP +5%. ESL +4%. CTSH +4%.
After-hours top losers: MFRM -22%. MIND -21%. P -18%. TIBX -13%. OXM -12%. Comment! [On the Move] - Tuesday, December 4, 2012, 5:24 PM More on Mattress Firm (MFRM): Q3 beats on both a per share and a revenue basis as total sales rose by 51% Y/Y. Net profit grew by 1.2% as comparable-store sales growth rose 6.6% for the quarter. However, the company noted that sales traffic had slowed in November, it was reducing FY13 guidance. It now expects its EPS to come in the range of $1.49 - $1.52 on revenues of between $1.01B - $1.015B. This is down from the prior range of $1.022B - $1.039B, and below consensus estimates for an EPS of $1.69 on revenue of $1.024B. Shares -22% AH. Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, December 4, 2012, 4:06 PM Mattress Firm (MFRM): Q3 EPS of $0.47 beats by $0.01. Revenue of $277.3M (+51.1% Y/Y) beats by $6M. Shares -11.9% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, September 27, 2012, 1:05 PM Select Comfort (SCSS +3.1%) and Mattress Firm (MFRM +0.8%) trade higher in the wake of an announcement that Tempur-Pedic and Sealy will merge. It's not the deal premium that's bringing in buyers (it was small), but the prospect that the pricing environment in the sector could improve that is helping to lift the stocks. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, September 20, 2012, 6:42 AM Mattress Firm (MFRM) files a registration statement with the SEC for the right to sell 4.726M shares of common stock on the behalf of selling stockholders. (S-1) Comment! [Consumer]
- Friday, September 7, 2012, 9:21 AM Mattress stocks are on watch for a shakeup after Mattress Firm clipped its estimates for FY13 earnings. Organic sales in the sector are now in focus with investors as companies start to run out of ways to buy growth. Premarket: MFRM -10.1%, SCS -1.3%, TPX -1.5%, ZZ inactive. Comment! MFRM is acquiring Mattress X-Press, owner of 35 mattress stores in South Carolina and Georgia, for $15.8M. The company expects FY13 revenue of $1.022B-$1.039B and EPS of $1.47-$1.50 vs. a consensus of $1.02B and $1.49. MFRM -12.1% AH. TPX -2.5%. (PR) 1 Comment [Consumer, Earnings, On the Move, M&A]

Tempur Pedic (TPX) is very attractive at current levels, stock should rebound sharply soon. MFRM reporting tonight, will impact on them - View all 1 replies

evan.prospect: TPX has nice products but for the money, I love my Sleep Innovations 12" mattress. I wonder if they are cutting into TPX's market share?
