Regarding Huntsman (HUN), see article beneath 2008 chart here:
    www.crossprofit.com/vi...

As stated in article, no position was taken in this arbitrage. As the title suggests, there were just too many question marks popping up. Upon this last earnings miss, Apollo called a MAC yesterday effectively nullifying the acquisition agreement. There may NOT be a break-up fee though HUN has gone to court!

HUN should have negotiated a new price tag though the whole scenario is very problematic as certain shareholders already cashed out. This deal looks dead; funeral dance (courts) to follow.

Usually this kind of list comes up with big winners from the poor performing group, but this is a pretty sorry looking lot. Reply

in respect Ambac and MBIA, they need to keep and save their cash that they have already collected and any cash coming into their coffers, deleverage from annoying debts, obligations and risks, stop paying dividends to increase their book value and once their book value is adequate and sound reinstate their triple A ratings again to start writing down new government bonds insurance only in low risk areas of the market. This strategy in itself is the best advertisement to recruit new business because the new clients will precieve that " if these folks were able to survive the credit crisis then they can survive anything" Reply

Re "home rescue plans in limbo"... Why do we rush with billions of $$$ to aid countries outside the USA, and lollygag when it comes to helping the taxpayers that make the aid possible in the first place??? Is it one of those "follow the money" deals? Reply

That's a great point... there probably will only be one provider left pretty soon and the DOJ's curruption is going to leave a lot of people holding a worthless peice of paper labeled XMSR; all while they are pretending to be protecting those same people! Outrage!!! Reply

Stocks That Ben Graham Would Like Here [view article]
I bought KELYA and ARCC recently and i have had ASH for a while, glad to see them in a list of presumed "Graham picks", which confirms somehow my own due diligence on them. I sold ASH because i think the company has serious issues in management strategies but i could reconsider a buy at present levels as this, like many of the companies of the list, had been way too beaten down. I agree on the fact that face accounting numbers are only one side of the coin, and many of those companies are down for a reason, beside overall market direction. Still, i think there is value that is neglected when the market overreact and i wait to see if this could be again an example. Reply

CDI Corporation have some issues that I believe will impact on their long term growth and share performance. Take a look at the facts on cdicorp.info and form your own opinion on their ethics, and their business practices. Consider the impact of these issues on their business growth and business model. These issues include: breach of franchise contracts, misrepresentation for years, questionable affidavit statements, questionable Sarbanes-Oxley reporting and more.... Reply
