- Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 5:49 PM Mellanox (MLNX) -28.7% AH after guiding on its Q3 earnings call for Q4 revenue of $145M-$150M, below a $153.1M consensus. The InfiniBand switch/adapter card vendor had little margin for error after a huge 2012 run-up left it with steep multiples. Intel mentioned yesterday demand had weakened for high-end server CPUs, which Mellanox's products are often used with. The guidance could have some negative implications for Oracle's (ORCL) engineered system sales. (previous) 2 Comments [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 4:12 PM Mellanox Technologies (MLNX): Q3 EPS of $1.37 beats by $0.24. Revenue of $156.5M (+129.6% Y/Y) beats by $3M. Shares -0.4% AH. (PR) 4 Comments [Earnings, Tech]

- Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 5:35 PM Notable earnings after Wednesday’s close: ALGN, AXP, CLB, CYS, EBAY, EPB, KMP, LHO, LRCX, MLNX, NE, SCSS, SLM, STLD, SYK, XLNX Comment! [Earnings]
- Wednesday, October 3, 2012, 5:28 PM Though Oracle's (ORCL) hardware sales fell 19% Y/Y in the August quarter, Larry Ellison promises growth will be positive by the end of FY13 (next May), as strong demand for Oracle's costly "engineered" systems finally offsets plunging sales of everything it acquired from Sun. Still unknown, however, is when Ellison expects hardware sales to match what Sun was posting when Oracle bought the company for $7.4B. Mellanox (MLNX +4.7%) is heavily exposed to Oracle's engineered system sales. (new hardware) Comment! [Tech]
- Wednesday, September 19, 2012, 2:22 PM More on Pac Crest's coverage launch for Fusion-io (FIO +5.3%): Analyst Brent Bracelin is making a bullish call on flash storage in general, and sees Mellanox (MLNX), SanDisk (SNDK), and LSI as other ways to play the trend. Regarding Fusion-io, Bracelin declares it "one of the fastest-growing enterprise technology companies of all time," and speaks positively about its deals with Apple and Facebook, believed to spend a combined $200M/year on flash. 1 Comment [Tech, Quick Ideas]
- Tuesday, September 11, 2012, 11:46 AM Mellanox (MLNX +3.0%) has been approached several times by potential acquirers, claims CEO Eyal Waldman, but the company prefers to remain independent. Waldman adds Mellanox has a "gentleman's agreement" with #1 customer Oracle (ORCL) that the latter won't add to its 10% stake, whose value has increased considerably, and claims Mellanox's InfiniBand solutions won't see serious competition from rivals such as Intel for at least 3 years. Others are more concerned. (CFO retirement). Comment! [Tech, On the Move, M&A]
- Monday, September 10, 2012, 11:31 AM Mellanox (MLNX -10.5%) announces CFO Michael Gray is retiring effective Nov. 5. Gray, who has served as Mellanox's CFO since Dec. '04, will be replaced by VP of Finance Jacob Shulman. (earlier) Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, September 10, 2012, 10:00 AM Mellanox (MLNX -12%) tanks after SA contributor Kerrisdale Capital argues sales of the company's InfiniBand adapters will fall in 2013 as a server upgrade cycle centering around Intel's Romley Xeon CPUs winds down. Kerrisdale also criticizes Mellanox's valuation, and raises concerns about future competition from 40 Gbps Ethernet adapters, as well as Intel (previous). Mellanox's sales have taken off in tandem with the strong growth seen for top customer Oracle's high-end servers. (Stifel downgrade) Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Friday, September 7, 2012, 11:08 AM Mellanox (MLNX -6.8%) slides after Stifel downgrades to Hold. This year's huge run-up probably has something to do with Stifel's move. Mellanox has been one of the year's best performers, thanks to huge earnings beats fueled by soaring sales of the company's InfiniBand adapter cards to Oracle for use in the latter's high-end "engineered" systems. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, August 27, 2012, 2:09 PM Mellanox (MLNX +2.1%) is making new highs after announcing a software-based solution for creating "virtual" storage networks based on server hardware. The solution leverages Mellanox's InfiniBand and Ethernet adapters, and can be managed using VMware's vCenter. Mellanox is up 259% YTD following a string of blowout earnings reports. Comment! [Tech]

Shares are up 54.5% AH, easily blowing past their all-time high. Oracle (ORCL) owns a 9.8% stake in Mellanox - its value just increased by about $141M. Mellanox's beat is also good news for Oracle to the extent it reflects well on sales of Oracle's high-end Exadata and Exalogic systems, which contain Mellanox's InfiniBand adapters. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move]
- Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 4:31 PM Mellanox Technologies (MLNX): Q2 EPS of $0.99 beats by $0.27. Revenue of $133.5M (+111% Y/Y) beats by $5M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech]
- Tuesday, June 19, 2012, 2:16 PM Mellanox (MLNX +2%) gains after Barclays says it remains a top pick in Israel, given an expanding addressable market and solid market share gains. The firm rates shares an Overweight with a $65 price target. Comment! [Global & FX, Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, June 18, 2012, 10:04 AM Mellanox (MLNX +6.7%) surges to new all-time highs after making a flurry of product and customer announcements. Among them: a new InfiniBand adapter card called Connect-IB, aimed at demanding server and storage environments, and deals (I, II) with Australia's national science agency and a Texas research facility to supply InfiniBand adapter cards and switches for high-performance computing applications.
