Premarket gainers: MPG +23%. INFN +19%. AKAM +17%. FIO +16%. CLF +8%. YNDX +7%. NXST +7%. NOW +7%. CAB +6%. CAKE +6%.
Losers: XIDE -15%. WHX -14%. INTU -13%. ZNGA -9%. MLNX -8%. AVEO -7%. CTXS -7%. 1 Comment [On the Move] - Wednesday, April 24, 8:22 PM More on Mellanox Technologies (MLNX): Q1 beats on both EPS and revenue, but net earnings swung to a loss as the data-storage company reported sharply higher operating expenses. The company also issued downbeat guidance for the current quarter, now expecting revenue to come in between $92.5M and $97.5M, below Street estimates of $108M. Shares -6.2% AH. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 24, 4:07 PM Mellanox Tech (MLNX): Q1 EPS of $0.10 beats by $0.06. Revenue of $83.1M beats by $2.33M. Shares +2.4% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, April 5, 9:51 AM The bloodletting in enterprise IT and telecom equipment names that followed F5's March quarter warning yesterday afternoon has spread, with some telecom component/chip names now among the companies getting hit hard. This morning's weak NFP report certainly isn't helping matters. JDSU -5%. CVLT -6.1%. EZCH -4.5%. INFA -3.9%. QLIK -3.9%. MLNX -3.6%. CAVM -8.5%. RKUS -5%. FTNT -3.9%. FNSR -6%. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Wednesday, March 20, 4:44 PM Some enterprise IT names slump in response to Oracle's FQ3 miss, which included a surprising 2% Y/Y drop in new software license/cloud subscription revenue, and a 23% Y/Y drop in hardware product sales. InfiniBand hardware supplier Mellanox (MLNX) is the worst-hit, -7% AH. IBM -1%. HPQ -1%. EMC -1.2%. RHT -1.9%. VMW -1%. TIBX -1.2%. TDC -1%. Archrival SAP is unchanged for now. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, March 12, 4:17 PM A bullish note from Lazard led Mellanox (MLNX +13.8%) to gradually surge to new 2013 highs; shares have now fully recouped the losses they saw following Mellanox's Q4 warning. Following a meeting with management, Lazard thinks business is back on track. The firm has lifted estimates while maintaining a PT of $69. 3 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Thursday, March 7, 10:28 AM An upgrade to Outperform from JMP is giving Mellanox (MLNX +4.2%) a boost; the firm has set a PT of $70. Mellanox has been mostly range-bound since Jan. 3, when it crashed thanks to its Q4 warning. Yesterday, Mellanox announced its InfiniBand adapter cards and switches are used in a high-end SQL Server data warehousing system developed by Microsoft, and offered by H-P and Dell. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]

Thursday, March 7, 9:10 AM
Premarket gainers: HIMX +36%. NQ +17%. CIEN +15%. MTSL +12%. FNSR +9%. HZNP +8%. EDAP +8%. WFR +7%. DANG +6%. INFN +6%. JDSU +6%. INVE +6%. MLNX +5%.
Losers: JRCC -14%. AV -11%. SCTY -8%. PETM -8%. DRYS -7%. NBG -5%. Comment! [On the Move] - Wednesday, February 13, 1:42 PM Mellanox (MLNX +4%) is having a good day - as is often the case, The Fly on the Wall reports the gains are due to M&A speculation. With 23.8% of the float was shorted as of Jan. 31, a short-squeeze isn't hard to produce. This morning, Mellanox announced Ethernet adapter card/switch solutions for the OpenStack cloud infrastructure platform; the hardware is meant to improve networking performance for virtualization deployments, and increase storage throughput. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 31, 3:59 PM Strong earnings from Citrix, Fortinet, and SGI have translated into solid gains for a number of enterprise IT stocks. Winners include security hardware firms Sourcefire (FIRE +4.9%), Palo Alto Networks (PANW +2.8%), and Check Point (CHKP +3%), and server adapter card/interconnect switch makers Mellanox (MLNX +6.2%) and Emulex (ELX +2.6%), WAN optimization leader Riverbed (RVBD +1.7%), and Citrix virtualization/cloud management rival Red Hat (RHT +2%). Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, January 29, 11:28 AM OCZ (OCZ -13.6%) and (to a lesser extent STEC (STEC -3.7%) sell off following soft guidance from EMC and Seagate. Seagate's $40M investment in and reseller deal with PCI-Express server flash card maker Virident might also be taking a toll. QLogic (QLGC -1.3%), Mellanox (MLNX -2%), Brocade (BRCD -1%), Micron (MU -1.7%), and SanDisk (SNDK -0.9%) are posting moderate declines. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Friday, January 25, 10:21 AM QLogic (QLGC +18.6%) surges after reporting FQ3 revenue of $119.4M (-16% Y/Y) and EPS of $0.20, beating a consensus of $117.5M and $0.18. Storage adapter card and controller chip sales fell sharply Y/Y, while switch sales ticked higher. On its earnings call, QLogic guided for FQ4 revenue of $112M-$118M and EPS of $0.13-$0.17 vs. a consensus of $111.5M and $0.15. SA's Ashra Eassa offered a detailed bull case for QLogic a month ago. Rivals Emulex (ELX +1.5%) and Mellanox (MLNX +2.5%) are up a bit. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 24, 12:38 PM Here's a surprise: Mellanox (MLNX -0.1%) is near breakeven after guiding for Q1 revenue about 40% below consensus. The fact shares (initially down 25% AH) had already been more than halved since September is undoubtedly a big reason why. Management noted on the earnings call one of its OEM customers saw a $30M inventory buildup that will be burned through in Q1, and expects growth to resume in Q2 and continue through 2013. (Q4 results) (Jan. 2 warning) 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]

[On the Move] - Wednesday, January 23, 5:54 PM Mellanox (MLNX) guides on its Q4 call for Q1 revenue of $78M-$83M, far below a consensus of $129.5M. Shares are halted, expect a big drop when they resume trading. Update (6:00 PM) : Shares have resumed trading, and are down 25% AH to $38.75. 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]
- Tuesday, January 15, 10:22 AM Beaten-down Mellanox (MLNX +4.8%) is provided some relief by UBS, which is upgrading shares to Buy. The firm argues downside is now limited, and expects Mellanox to remain competitive in the InfiniBand hardware market in spite of new competition from Intel. (Q4 warning) 1 Comment [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]

Bought 20 shares of $MLNX. Not a whole lot of skin in the game, but enough to profit from a violent move to the upside. - View all 12 replies
