- Thursday, May 23, 3:44 PM Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP -0.7%) may build a pipeline extension connecting its network to its terminals in central Arkansas, where the imminent shutdown of Enterprise Partners' (EPD) 230K bbl/day distillate pipeline is raising concerns about supply in the state. EPD says flows on the line are too low to justify more spending, but Arkansas' AG is challenging the shutdown. Comment! [Energy]
- Tuesday, May 14, 3:59 PM The Double Eagle Pipeline begins moving Eagle Ford condensate from Three Rivers, Tex., to the Corpus Christi terminal owned 50/50 by Magellan Midstream (MMP) and Kinder Morgan Partners (KMP). The startup is part of a $150M project that includes 140 miles of new pipeline that connects to an existing Kinder Morgan 50-mile pipeline. Initial capacity is 100K bbl/day. Comment! [Energy]
- Friday, May 3, 2:46 PM Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP) is upgraded to Outperform with a $59 target price at Credit Suisse after the MLP raised FY 2013 guidance. CS raises its FY 2014 EBITDA outlook in part to reflect the possibility of adding an additional 50 kb/day capacity, which would cost just $80M but would add ~$30M EBITDA. Raymond James also lifts its target price to $56 from $52. Comment! [Energy, Quick Ideas]
- Thursday, May 2, 8:34 AM Magellan Midstream (MMP): Q1 EPS of $0.51 beats by $0.03. Revenue of $432.4M misses by $80.8M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News]

- Tuesday, March 26, 10:17 AM Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP) says it has started storing crude in tanks at Crane, Tex., the origin point for the Longhorn pipeline, which it expects to start transporting crude by mid-April. The line, which had carried refined products, has been reversed to transport crude to Houston refineries and could help ease a glut of oil at the Cushing delivery hub and support local prices by opening the door to new buyers. 4 Comments [Energy]
- Thursday, March 21, 4:23 PM The outlook for MLPs is rosy, according to Elvira Scotto, a director at RBC. In a report on the sector published by The Wall Street Transcript, Scotto says that thanks to low interest rates, MLPs have ready access to capital and can thus easily fund growth. This is good news for yield-starved investors as MLPs offer handsome payouts. Previously: MLPs will outperform even if rates rise. 8 Comments [Energy]
- Wednesday, March 20, 6:57 PM Phillips 66 (PSX) is the latest energy company to aggressively pursue pushing cheaper U.S. crude through rail to its refineries, after signing deals with Enbridge Partners (EEP; also), Targa Partners (NGLS) and Magellan Midstream (MMP). PSX's new partnerships show refiners are accepting that U.S. oil production, set to grow by nearly 1M bbl/day in 2013 to 7.3M bbl/day, is not a flash in the pan. 11 Comments [Energy]
- Monday, March 18, 12:48 PM Interest rates will rise sooner or later, but Credit Suisse looks at the rate-rising 2004-07 period and factors now in place to lead it to believe MLPs would outperform should rates rise again. CS still believes increased focus on crude oil infrastructure should drive performance, given the boom in North American production. Its three-to-five-year favorites: PAA, KMI, MKR, MMP, EPD. Comment! [Energy, Quick Ideas]
- Friday, February 22, 9:53 AM Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP -0.3%) agrees to acquire ~800 miles of refined petroleum products pipeline from Plains All American Pipeline (PAA +0.3%) for $190M. MMP expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to its distributable cash flow per unit. Comment! [Energy]
- Tuesday, February 5, 8:06 AM Magellan Midstream (MMP): Q4 EPS of $0.69 beats by $0.02. Revenue of $503.2M misses by $2.06M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News]

- Monday, February 4, 10:28 AM Despite a strong start to the year, the MLP analysts at Credit Suisse forecast a continued MLP catch-up trade that could lead to significant outperformance by MLPs vs. the S&P 500. The firm's top names have strong exposure to what it sees as the coming oil boom: PAA, MMP, EEP, EPD, GEL, KMR, KMP and KMI, plus ETFs KYN and SRV. 5 Comments [Energy, Quick Ideas]
- Monday, February 4, 10:06 AM Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP -1%) plans to construct new pipeline and terminal infrastructure at its Galena Park, Tex., terminal to originate crude oil to its Gulf Coast distribution system for delivery to refineries in the Houston and Texas City area. MMP says the ~$50M project is supported by long-term committed volumes and is expected to be fully operational by mid-2014. Comment! [Energy]
