Under The Radar News - Thursday [view article]
This is great. Can you fix the BusinessWeek link? ReplyWhat if You Could Buy Apple Pre-iPhone? [view article]
gofer, nice comment:-) I like it. I don't know where all these pumpers come from. In various shades and various ideas. I think these are school kids.>>>>
Apple can do anything Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), HP (NYSE: HPQ) , or Sony (NYSE: SNE) already does, except with a better user experience
>>>>>
Ha Ha! They can run the country and run the central bank as wel!!

What if You Could Buy Apple Pre-iPhone? [view article]
"We could all go to the "Church of Apple'."Don't laugh. Look how big MSFT got without ever bothering to deliver even one decent product. Almost every Apple product I've ever owned has worked beyond expectations. Reply

hmmm... that might be an idea. We could all go to the "Church of Apple'. We could hear iMass, drink iWine, eat iBread, download a couple songs, hear iConfession and get that coveted iForgiveYou!...sigh. I'll burn in iHell for this. Reply

Eric:Will VMW reach close to $89 in near future? Understanding it's valuation is far higher and in this market condition. Thanks. Reply
Microsoft to Take on VMware in Virtualization [view article]
Hi Eric:Isn't VMW still far ahead. In fact, VMW has innovation at it's foundation and aren't they the pioneers? Why doesn't MSFT merge or buy out VMW if intends to mimic? Reply

Microsoft Be Warned: IBM Boards the Open Source Software Express [view article]
IBM is embracing Open Source because IBM is in too weak of a market position to even attempt to sell proprietary software. Oh, how the mighty have fallen down the mountain they originally created, and how hard some try to spin the collapse.P.S. thanks for mentioning Lotus; it was a flashback to the latter 80's and the peanut PC, Charlie Chaplin commercials, etc.

Sun-MySQL: The Real Winner is Oracle [view article]
TIBCOMonkey --The reference to SAP should have made clearer that I was referring to its NetWeaver business. As described in many previous posts, SAP in CY 2006 made impressive gains in the middleware market. SAP landed “standalone” middleware business not dependent on its ERP business. Based on the exchange rate used in its 20-F, SAP recognized more than $1B in license/maintenance/li... revenue for NetWeaver in the 12 months ending March 31, 2007.
In fact, counting Business Objects but not counting BEA, SAP probably surpassed Oracle in the middleware market in 2007. That's the part of SAP Sun will be competing with.

3 Factors That Will Create Mass Demand for HD Consoles [view article]
Not so sure I beleive this argument...I have many friends who had a HD-TV, moved out from their parents, graduated college, make good money...and now play their 360 on a regular TV. Why? The TVs are too expensive...not the consoles.I also have many friends who have an HD-TV and bought a Wii...and yes, they have seen COD4, Halo 3...and well, still prefer their Wiis as the games are simply more fun. EMPHASIS ON GAMES BEING MORE FUN.
I beleive Mr. Everiss has fallen a bit out of what the customers want, as it clearly isn't what I'm seeing in my life. I own a 360 and Wii and play both...the hardcore gamers will for sure buy a 360 or PS3 at some point, but the mass market created by the Wii will certainly not. If the market expands, it will be due to the Wii...360 sales were lower last year than the previous year in spite of Halo 3, COD4 and Rock Band, PS3 sales are still anemic...however, the DS and Wii sold like hot cakes because their entire purpose is gaming...again EMPHASIS ON GAMING.
I love COD4 and all the shooters on the 360, but beleive me, there isn't anyone new to these games that wasn't playing them prior to this generation....all the new folks are Nintendo customers, not the other way around... I simply do not beleive a large amount of previously not playing "hardcore" gamers are going to come out of the woodwork in any largere numbers than for the PS2...no way, no how. Reply
Sun-MySQL: The Real Winner is Oracle [view article]
"But of course that is not Sun’s objective. Sun wants to take on Oracle, IBM (IBM), SAP (SAP) and others and make sure the others think of Sun as a competitor all the way up and down the stack. "I'm curious where SUN has or will compete with SAP. To move to the business applications level, SUN's only option is to partner with both Oracle and SAP. The odds of them finding or building a competitive ERP suite are exactly zero.

6 Key Earnings Previews: AAPL, MSFT, EBAY, POT, WFR, SPWR [view article]
i haven't owned apple in a little while. i just read the CC that SA has posted and it reads pretty darn good. i think i might be buying into the sell off tomorrow morning.i just keep eyeing up ISRG in for jan.31. they have been my baby for so long. i just don't think hospitals will be cutting back like that analyst said. i don't think they can without falling behind other hospitals, plus what about all these boomers? hospitals should have plenty to spend for years. Defending Apple's MacBook Air [view article]
The MacBook Air is without a doubt the Cube 2.0 and is sure to flop. Apple is about due for another. I guess when you take as many risks with products as Apple does, you're bound to fail every so often. I hear so many people on this board saying they will buy a MBA. I remember hearing the same type of talk when the Cube was first brought out. Then when people got over their initial infatuation and started looking at it for what it is, the reaction was almost always, WTF would I buy this for???? And people, even though Apple is growing a decent clip compared to the rest of the market, they only have 6-7% market share in the US. Worldwide, they aren't even in the top 5. They have come a long way, but there is still a long way to go before you can realistically consider them a major player in any computer segment.I have a feeling there are tough roads ahead for Apple. iPod sales are slowing, which is a huge revenue stream for Apple. The iPhone is doing well, but not exceedingly (iPhone is 3 features from essentially being the perfect device) And with the coming woes to the US economy, Apple's computer line will be priced out of reach for 90% of consumers.
