GVH: Thanks for the comment. Is there a specific comment beyond the "I disagree" that you want to offer up? Most of the points made are not unique to my blog. In fact, the links are to press clips and analyst commentaries who've actually put their names on their work. Replyahead
My 2008 Investment Prognosis [view article]
CAT is trading at 13X with a 10-15% growth rate as far as the eye can see. It also pays 2.1% dividend yield, and has a steady record of dividend increases. It also is buying back stock and sales are 60% non-North America. CAT is not a housing play or a US consumer play. Maybe it was 10 years ago, but now it is more sensitive to Brazil (on the ground over 30 years there) than to Toll Brothers. (dics: I'm long CAT) ReplyAnalysts See Dow Rising Sharply in 2008 [view article]

Under The Radar News - Wednesday [view article]
Hi, Great News that nobody else is talking about much. Can you try and shed some light on something I find to be under the radar?
Many Tech companies in the USA are going out of there way to say what percentage of sales are Intenational. Intel I remember as 75%, now I belief it, but, don't those customers like Lenova in China supply back to the markets in the USA ?
Doesn't this whole concept of the World saving the USA leave out the part about everybody is using US dollars from US consumers or should I say US credit accounts?
Cheers, Brian in Montreal and I don't feel any safer up here. Reply
2008 Will Bring More Platforms to Video Gaming [view article]
Don't count Nokia completely out. If the company chooses to get decent gaming going on the N800 and N810 palmtop computers, they'll have something. It remains to be seen if that will manifest, though. ReplyMcSweeney
Why Isn't Microsoft More Proactive in Acquisitions? [view article]
I would like to read the perspective of someone inside MSFT. That perspective would be an interesting contrast to the above viewpoint.Reply

MSFT almost never gets any value out of acquisitions. The list is long: WebTV, Bungie; Great Plains; Spyglass; Connectix; (acquantive-- premature, but we know how this marriage will end). ReplyAnalysts See Dow Rising Sharply in 2008 [view article]
"We have often pointed out that analyst price targets should be taken with a grain of salt."Ummm ...should be taken with a salt mine in this case.
Interesting article, but it seems the main conclusion is how laughable analyst's price targets really are. Reply
DivX and Xbox 360: A Potential Win-Win For Everyone [view article]
"As far as PS3 support for DivX, I'm a skeptic. From what I understand, it looks like the PS3 activated the .AVI wrapper and not actually support for XviD or DivX. There's always a possibility that Sony is also in negotiations, but given their studio exposure, I think that they'd be reluctant to partner with the mp3 of video."Not only suported, but certified. And now they are going to make content availiable. Very sound strategy for Sony as far as BluRay, and the Game Console sales.
How many extra $40 to $60 games would they have to sell to cover about $1 for DivX certification on each console?
