Yahoo Rejects Latest Microsoft-Icahn Offer [view article]
"Do you want to better Microsoft could better monetize search than Yahoo? I don’t."Larry: you mean "Do you want to BET..."
Anyway, I sure don't. If MSFT can't get MSN to work, we do so many people believe MSFT can manage Yahoo, particularly after all the good Yahoo people inevitably jump ship for Google?
As for bringing back Bill, as James Z proposes: too late. They blew billions and 5 years in opportunity costs on Vista while other companies were sharpening their carving knives (e.g. AAPL). There will be blood on the floor for MSFT. Reply
Why Google Rules the Online Ad Market, and How That Could Change [view article]
The POWER of the internet is that it brings diverse data points together. You heard the old saw: "What's THAT got to do with the price of tea in China?" Well, with the "Web" (great term), you can find out what ANYTHING has to do with the price of tea in China, or anywhere else. Filtering out the noise and avoiding the pleasant distractions is your responsibility. ReplyGoldman's Sirius Call: Solid Thesis, Poor Timing [view article]

If the extent of your thinking is limited to information gathering, you probably were not going to add anything of real value to human understanding of anything important anyway. Those who make a meaningful difference, think way outside of that kind of box. The rest is all static and chatter. ReplyTop Ten Social Networking Sites (NWS, GOOG, MSFT) [view article]

Yahoo Rejects Microsoft-Icahn Search and Restructuring Proposal [view article]
Almost agree with James Z. Two points: 1. Microsoft destroyed Yahoo! for a reason: they destroyed competitor in the portal market. 2. Shareholders will not hold Icahn and Ballmer accountable, they will be plain screwed. ReplyYahoo Rejects Microsoft-Icahn Search and Restructuring Proposal [view article]
the whole mess is all caused by Microsoft's impotence to compete with Google. Microsoft behaviors in the past several months is so in-consistent. They flip-flop so frequently and confused many of us. No matter who wins in the proxy, Icann and Microsoft has destroyed Yahoo for no reason and eventually Microsoft itself. The only winner is Google. Share holders will hold Icann and Steve accountable. ReplyYahoo Rejects Latest Microsoft-Icahn Offer [view article]
Microsoft simply loss all the credibility. They flip-flop so frequently in front of the public. We need to fire Steve Ballmar and bring Bill back. ReplyMicrosoft's Six Year Wagon Rut [view article]

Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
The dollar, like all other fiat currencies that have ever been invented, has a useful lifecycle less than infinity. It is created, used properly for awhile, eventually taken advantage of through debasement and ultimately abandoned and reviled. We are now at the end of the take advantage of via debasement portion of the cycle. Buy physical gold if you have even a lick of common sense. Buy some silver too. ReplyVMware: Is the Dream Over? Well, he said that he thought VM is "approaching a realistic valuation." Now maybe there's a plus/minus there of $5 but it sounds as if Mr. Bloor considers it fairly valued at this point. ReplyTiedeman
