Nordic American Tanker: Income Strong, Raises Dividend [view article]
Actually I really got interested in NAT after reading this article. The lowest that the dividend has gone has been .278/quarter in 1998, which is not bad. Most investors in stocks that pay high but fluctuating dividends should also reconsider the idea of yield on cost. When you purchase NAT at 40 and you generate $9/year in dividends now that's great news. But what happens if profits drop and DPS goes lower to $1/year? Your yield on cost ultimately drops to 2.5%. The shipping industry has enjoyed a strong boom over the past 5 years. I wonder if there are any shipping stocks which have traded on the US markets for more than 10 years? Reply
Keep Buying Big Brown - Cramer's Lightning Round (9/4/08) [view article]
I hope he isn't crazy - I have 10,000 shares of BQI . . . patiently waiting for some big oil company or Chinese company to buy it out. On June 26th, BQI put out an updated resource estimate of 6.6 billion barrels of oil. At $100/barrel that would be over $600 billion. Even at 75% production cost, it still leave a company value of over $150 billion. Divided by its current 228.71million shares, let's see, that is over $655 per share. I think it will be worth the wait! ReplyKeep Buying Big Brown - Cramer's Lightning Round (9/4/08) [view article]

Cramer should be fired. He is like the weather man. He can be wrong (a lot) and he still has a job. If I was wrong as much as him I would be canned. How about you? Reply

Nice, but not much help at the moment. Are there no companies that it WOULD be smart to buy at the moment? If not, how about posting another article when you can tell us about companies that we could actually buy? Thanks. ReplyCalvin

Similar to NAT is Frontline, FRO. At the current price the trailing yield is over 19%. Earnings are reported on 8/29. I'm GUESSING (hoping) that the dividend will also increase beyond the $2.75 level. PE is less than 7. ReplyCalvin
