- Monday, April 23, 2012, 9:26 AM Netflix (NFLX), which is due to release Q1 results after the bell, is expected to report that it swung to a loss per share of 0.27 from a profit of 1.11 and that revenue climbed 21% to $868.57M. "Prepare for extreme spin," says SA author J Mintzmyer. "Netflix is dying." (previous) Comment! [Earnings, Tech, Consumer]
- Monday, April 23, 2012, 7:47 AM Raymond James analyst Aaron Kessler says sell-rated Netflix (NFLX) could stall out at 26.8M subscribers this year as competiting services cannibalize the U.S. market. The firm reports earnings tonight, with the growth rate of U.S. subscribers set to be one of the most closely-dissected metrics. Shares -1.5% premarket. 2 Comments [On the Move, Tech]

- Friday, April 20, 2012, 5:30 PM Having just announced it would begin selling ads for original content, Hulu says it will add 4 new original shows: We Got Next, The Awesomes, Don't Quit Your Daydream, and Flow. Web video rivals Netflix (NFLX), Amazon (AMZN), and Yahoo (YHOO) are also stepping up their investments in original programming, to the slight consternation of studios and traditional TV networks. 1 Comment [Tech]
- Friday, April 20, 2012, 12:22 PM Wal-Mart 's (WMT) Vudu streaming rental service plans to expand overseas, sources tell Variety. A Latin American launch featuring 30 countries will reportedly be followed up by European and Asian launches later this year, with Wal-Mart hoping its retail presence and support for prepaid cards will give it an edge. Netflix (NFLX) has launched in Latin America and the U.K. over the last 12 months. (also) Comment! [Consumer, Tech]
- Thursday, April 19, 2012, 10:47 AM BI's 21 Most Controversial Stocks list: BBY, GRPN, CRM, GMCR, SODA, APP, DMND, LGF, URBN, NFLX, RIMM, LEN, FSLR, YHOO, RSH, TTWO, BIDU, SINA, RENN, IOC, AAPL. 2 Comments [Quick Ideas]
- Wednesday, April 18, 2012, 11:48 AM Rocco Pendola sees a way for Netflix (NFLX -0.2%) to end its death spiral, suggesting that the company needs to secure advertisers for programming to provide a new revenue stream. Even if Netflix deals with studios prohibit monetizing their content, he suggests execs hightail it back to the bargaining table to rework agreements. 3 Comments [Tech]
- Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 2:19 PM Level 3 (LVLT +2.4%) has finished a major capacity expansion for its content delivery network (CDN), and has also expanded into a number of foreign markets. Dan Rayburn continues to see Level 3's ownership of its fiber network as a major competitive advantage relative to rivals AKAM and LLNW, and thinks the company can profit from its relationship with top customer Netflix (NFLX), in spite of aggressive pricing. (previous) 1 Comment [Tech, Quick Ideas]
- Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 1:21 PM Reed Hastings' Facebook rant about Comcast's (CMCSA) alleged violation of net neutrality (via its Xbox streaming deal) has drawn the interest of the FCC, which says it's reviewing the matter. Chances are other pay-TV providers will be paying close attention to this story, given complaints about the bandwidth usage of Netflix (NFLX) and other online video services, and interest in implementing bandwidth caps in response. Comment! [Tech]
- Monday, April 16, 2012, 9:14 AM Netflix's (NFLX) Reed Hastings takes to Facebook to blast Comcast's (CMCSA) Xbox streaming deal for allegedly violating net neutrality principles. Like others, Hastings doesn't like how Comcast's Xfinity On Demand service is exempt from the ISP's bandwidth cap, while Netflix and other streaming services aren't. Of interest is the fact Comcast is among the pay-TV firms that has said it's not interested in reselling Netflix. Comment! [Tech]
- Friday, April 13, 2012, 6:46 AM Amazon (AMZN) may be inflating the size of its streaming library by counting each episode of a TV series as a separate show. The 17K mark the company boasts of in advertising only represents approximately 1,745 movies and 150 TV shows. Netflix (NFLX) is reported to count individual episodes in its total as well, although it doesn't actively promote the inflated count. Comment! [Tech]
- Thursday, April 12, 2012, 5:43 PM Netflix (NFLX) +0.7% AH after Coinstar's (CSTR) big upward guidance, which partly reflected "better than anticipated consumer acceptance of the price increase" for Redbox DVD rentals. If CSTR is enjoying higher sales on a static basis, it could mean more customer defections for NFLX - or if it's passing on higher costs without complaint, maybe Reed Hastings won’t get bashed so much. Stay tuned. 3 Comments [Tech]
- Thursday, April 12, 2012, 11:52 AM LinkedIn (LNKD +7.2%) jumps after SunTrust starts coverage with a Buy, and Morgan Stanley (Overweight) lifts its PT to $115 from $105. MS says its analysis of LinkedIn's sales efficiency found the company's recent aggressive hiring had a minimal impact on productivity, and that leads the firm to hike its margin forecasts. SunTrust is also starting Google (GOOG +1.3%), Web.com (WWWW +5%) and Netflix (NFLX +3.2%) at Buy. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Thursday, April 5, 2012, 1:31 PM Hasbro (HAS +0.1%) signs a multi-year deal with Netflix (NFLX +0.8%) to provide kid-friendly content to the firm's subscription service. 1 Comment [Tech]

chattyintrovert: CNBC is the last place I would go for good advice on $BBRY, or any stock for that matter. -

inandoutnevertoolate: lately the stock seems to gap up of down in the morning and fill that gap + some by days end. Just a heads up. -
inandoutnevertoolate: today could break the pattern, looks bullish but still not convinced it won't fill morning gap by end of the day.

Brian Benda: Agree, mix of both. I trimmed my original position a little @ $86 to free up some capital. Still maintaining short with huge profit.
