- Friday, April 19, 12:04 PM An upgrade to Accumulate from National Alliance Capital helps Netflix (NFLX +1.9%) add to this year's big gains. The firm predicts Netflix "will continue to grow subscribers at an accelerated rate." National Alliance upgraded LinkedIn, another Internet high-flyer, earlier this week. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Consumer]
- Thursday, April 18, 11:34 AM The trend that isn't going away. A study by Harris Interactive indicates 62% of overall viewers who watch TV shows on their own time exercise "binge-viewing" habits, while the percentages jumps to as high as 78% for younger audiences. As followers of Reed Hastings' Facebook page already know, binge-viewing continues to help Netflix (NFLX -1.3%) boost viewer hours and strengthen the stickiness of the streaming service. 4 Comments [Consumer]
- Monday, April 15, 1:55 PM Shares of Netflix (NFLX +3.7%) have no problem keeping their heads above water after BTIG issues bullish coverage on the stock to provide some support. With Reed Hastings' Facebook page fair game for corporate dissemination of data, the debate over the exec's post on the 4B user hours of content viewing in Q1 rages. SA author Bill Maurer is in the camp that thinks the disclosure isn't a huge deal since it matches the growth rate in subscribers already forecast. What to watch: Look for more details on how the 4B user viewing hours might translate into profits during next week's earnings call. Comment! [Consumer]
- Monday, April 15, 9:55 AM BTIG's Richard Greenfield, bane of Facebook and Pandora bulls, has started coverage on Netflix (NFLX +2.6%) with a Buy and $250 PT. Greenfield expects Netflix's value proposition and original content to "drive better than expected subscriber growth and moderate churn." He also declares Netflix's content expenses to be "sufficiently high," leading to operating leverage for future revenue growth. Wouldn't it have been better to make this thesis 3 months ago? (Goldman) (Evercore) 3 Comments [Tech, Consumer, On the Move]

Thursday, April 11, 5:36 PM
After-hours top gainers, as of 5:15 p.m.: ASH +6%. NFLX +3%. TLAB +2%. PCYG +2%. HBI +2%.
After-hours top losers: HRS -7%. SBY -3%. JBHT -3%. KRO -2%. CMRX -2%. Comment! [On the Move] - Thursday, April 11, 5:00 PM That was quick: Shortly after Netflix (NFLX) disclosed it may share company info via Facebook/Twitter, Reed Hastings has used his Facebook page to boast Netflix streamed 4B hours of video over the last 3 months. The July '12 Facebook post that (temporarily) got Hastings in hot water with the SEC bragged of 1B hours in the month of June. Shares +3.2% AH. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Consumer]
- Thursday, April 11, 9:51 AM Goldman's Heath Terry has raised hit PT on Netflix (NFLX +2.9%) to $184 from $125, albeit while reiterating a Neutral. "We believe the addressable market of subscribers is better defined by the number of "connected consumers" than households," says Terry, who thinks Netflix's domestic streaming sub base will grow to 53M in 5 years from a current 22.8M. He's lowering his 2013 EPS estimate, but significantly raising his 2014 and 2015 estimates. Yesterday, Evercore launched coverage with an Underperform. (Pac Crest) 1 Comment [Tech, Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, April 11, 8:18 AM Netflix (NFLX) discloses in a SEC filing that it may use Twitter or Facebook to disseminate corporate information. The company notes the public Facebook page of CEO Reed Hastings will be one of its potential channels of material information. (8-K) 2 Comments [Consumer]
- Wednesday, April 10, 12:27 PM Netflix (NFLX -0.4%) underperforms after Evercore starts coverage with an Underweight and $115 PT. The firm thinks the launch of Intel's Web TV service will lead to higher programming costs and less pricing power. Intel's service is being pitched as an alternative to traditional pay-TV services rather than a direct Netflix rival, and will undoubtedly cost much more than the $8/month charged for Netflix. Comment! [Tech, Consumer, On the Move]
- Monday, April 8, 8:36 AM A trend of consumers sharing password information to HBO Go (TWX), Netflix (NFLX), Hulu, and other streaming sites is becoming more commonplace, according to The New York Times. Though Nielsen and comScore can't put a number on the development, informal surveying indicates the practice is on the rise and could be holding down subscriber revenue. What to watch: Don't expect any heavy-handed crackdowns by media companies just yet as they each strive to create a thriving ecosystem for their streaming service. 1 Comment [Consumer]
- Friday, April 5, 8:06 AM Cantor Fitzgerald takes its price target on Buy-rated Netflix (NFLX) up to $180 from $150. The crux of the bull case on Netflix is that the company is well-positioned to take advantage of a paradigm shift in consumer viewing habits. Cantor on NFLX: "Netflix holds a unique position to benefit disproportionately from the rise of Internet TV." NFLX -0.8% premarket. 2 Comments [Consumer]
- Thursday, April 4, 7:51 AM Netflix (NFLX) says it will premiere 15 new episodes of Arrested Development on May 26 just in time for some Memorial Day binge viewing. The show is an important piece of the company's original content lineup as it falls into the must-have category for many viewers. 3 Comments [Consumer]
- Wednesday, April 3, 11:15 AM Shares of Netflix (NFLX -5.4%) cut their daily loss after Carl Icahn tells CNBC he hasn't sold a single share since buying. It's a nice bit of news for investors with Icahn sitting on substantial profits from his NFLX bet. 2 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 3, 10:29 AM Shares of Netflix (NFLX -5.9%) turn lower on heavy volume. CEO Reed Hastings didn't post anything negative on Facebook - although the SEC says it's now OK if he wants to use social media to make announcements - instead the breakdown is being attributed to technical and momentum factors. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]

activistinvestor: Stop being a $NFLX hater. Sometimes if you can't beat 'em you have to concede and join 'em. -
Bill Maurer: I'm not hating. I'm saying that a company should provide one set of numbers, and stick to it. Not change what they provide every single time

bilton: May be but it gives you an unfair advantage over other investors. There's no excuse for him not using public pages on Facebook -
bilton: And Lady Gaga, Eminem, Rhianna, Justin Bieber, and other musicians each have millions of FB friends. 250000 is not many for a public person.
