Hoping to take advantage of buoyant equity markets, Blackstone (BX) is reportedly preparing to float its theme park operator Merlin Entertainments next year. Citigroup (C), Goldman Sachs (GS), Deutsche Bank (DB), UBS (UBS) and Nomura (NMR) are advising on what could be a $3.3B IPO. Merlin is the world's #2 park operator, after Disney (DIS).

Nomura (NMR) says it hired 135 U.S. bankers recently. "The U.S. is the missing piece in Nomura's plan to become a global investment bank," its head of global equities says. Previous forays into the U.S. market have flopped.

Notwithstanding the demise of the Wall Street I-bank, Nomura (NMR -4%) says the investment bank model is not broken. It has no intention of joining hands with larger universal banks, president Kenichi Watanabe says, despite market skepticism.
