Tuesday, April 2, 7:18 AM Nestle (NSRGY.PK) plans to spend at least 100M yuan ($16M) on a new coffee facility in China in an effort to promote the alternative to tea. Although the final verdict on consumers' appetite for coffee in China isn't quite in yet, coffee sales rose 13% last year to 7B yuan ($1.13 billion) and Starbucks (SBUX) is optimistic enough on the market that it's considering selling bagged coffee in grocery stores. Pamlab makes combinations of vitamins that are used in conjunction with conventional drugs to help patients suffering from depression, as well as other maladies linked to brain and metabolic healthcare such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy, dementia, depression and high-risk pregnancy. Friday, February 22, 2:04 PM Fitch Ratings says the horse meat scandal in Europe will hurt small food producers and manufacturers which in turn could pressure margins and profits up and down the sector. At the top of the food chain (so to speak), a well-diversified Nestle (NSRGY.PK) and Tesco (TSCDF.PK) should remain relatively unscathed while specialty food and catering firms such as Sodexo will feel the most pain.
