Dump NUE on June 30? Hmmm. That costs 52 cents a share to the dumper, since the board of directors of Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) declared the regular quarterly cash dividend of thirty-two cents ($0.32) per share on Nucor's common stock. AND a supplemental dividend of twenty cents ($0.20) per share, for a total dividend of fifty-two cents ($0.52) per share. This cash dividend is payable on August 11, 2008 to stockholders of record on June 30, and is Nucor's one-hundred forty-first consecutive quarterly cash dividend. Steel is actually a global need. Perhaps, one considers metals as a "story" yet it's a perennial requirement for many industrial sectors.Steel & Metals remains a reliable steady train in many many companies.
Pullbacks are a nice entry point. Reply

It's a very excellent presentation on the hows and whys of the market right now, and overall this whole oil fiasco is killing us(Americans/Investors... Under the assumption that investors will invest regardless. Is renewable energy really the new frontier? ReplyFast Money Recap - Oil Spoils Everything (6/6/08) [view article]
Cash by default! I can't imagine any time when everything, including cash, looks like a loser. CE's are losing money, stocks, real estate, and soon commodities will follow. The government is pouring money into IRAQ and borrowing to do so. A MESS! ReplyFast Money Recap - Oil Spoils Everything (6/6/08) [view article]
Carter Worth, "investors have to do something"...how about sitting on cash? Always feels good to have a buck or two. ReplyFast Money Recap - Oil Spoils Everything (6/6/08) [view article]
EXCELLENT! ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Dear Eli, Rep. Bart Stupak is right when he says "Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are manipulating oil markets...and they may be doing something illegal". I read the report that the economist, Jeffrey Harris, of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, gave to a Congressional Committee and his report was terrible. The CFTC has either not been doing their job or the CFTC has been lying to Congress and the American people. In another report ( which can be accessed through an article written by Anthony Schneider titled "Greenberger's Testimony-I Banks Control The Energy Market", on SeekingAlpha published June 4, 2008) you can learn how this is being done and what Congress needs to do to stop it.
"WE ARE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR OIL" Greenberger says...and I agree with him.
If enough people read Greenberger's report and complain to their Senators and Congressman then the investigations will start and the result will be similar to what happened in the Enron scandal...people will go to jail and oil prices and commodity prices will come down.
This trouble started with the Enron loophole, around 1999, and has cheated us just like Enron was caught cheating us.
Please help to stop it Eli. Thanks. Reply

Another great summary of factoids in the battle between fear and greed. Fear wins today - the $1.7 T Q1 loss in household assets, a new view of construction loan exposure, and a 5.5% unemployment rate (reported elsewhere). Oil surging. oy vey!!!RightinSanFrancisco.co... Reply

I recall Cramer on CNBC calling the Nuecor Secondary a stupid move by the company. Now he is saying it was a buy buy buy.I also remember him touting Yahoo a play than a week later he is bashing the stock.

MTL and NUE are off to the races this morning leading the market charge upward. It is tough to bet against the momentum darlings of the day.For some reason, short advice is usually more wrong than long recos. Look at the BOBE short plug of June 3 and the historic rise in the price of that turkey on June 4.
We know the bear raiders on WS are the big money makers for their employers. Why can't the public seem to participate is this gravy? Reply

can anyone comment on the downgrade by jp morgan this morning on allegheny tech? was this due to yesterday's conference? all comments welcome. thank you. ReplyLeery about Lehman - Fast Money Recap (6/3/08) [view article]
Although I tried to read Speaking Alpha daily, I must admit that this is the first time I came across this post (Fast Money recap). I tried to view Fast Money daily - but the last segment (Final trade) is usually mumbled and not repeated. So, this post serves a very useful purpose, particularly for those slow-pokes like me.Before typing this comment, I re-read the title of this post. I think I know one reason why it had not attracted my attention earlier -- the heading is not attractive enough. In my view, it should read: Fast Money Recap - 6/3/08: Leery on Lehman. Reply
