Novartis Example: Why Drug Discovery / Development Is Hard [view article]
Since FTY720 does not actually suppress T-cell function, but rather causes them to remain inside the lymph nodes, its possible to still mount an immune response to viral antigens being presented in the lymph nodes. Activation of T-helper cells could still promote B-cell activation and the subsequent production of viral clearing antibodies. Reply2020

Why should Carl Icahn accept Bristol's offer at $60? There are no reasons for it at all.18 months ago, Icahn has blocked ImClone sale to Sanofi for $36. Now, Bristol offers $60.
Icahn has a strong hand. He can tell to major ImClone shareholders: a $60-offer is not good but, in another 12-18 months, I might be able to get a new offer twice as big.
As Imclone's shareholder, I will go for it!

Are you concerned that Europe is hitting a recession, perhaps harder than the US? Or that Swiss companies are very "global" (predating that as a buzzword), and emerging markets are also slowing down sustantially? ReplyLike a Fine Watch, a Swiss Fund [view article]
Nice to see something about one of the most stable and interesting of th CEFs..a few additions to the article...1. SWZ has a most interesting portfolio..that would be difficult to reproduce on an individual equity level. At one time it would have been virtually impossible.
2. The history of the fund i one of consistent..and occasionally very substantial..semi-annu... payouts..these have..on occassion..given holders upwards of a 10% distribution.
3. Roughly..below $15..and discount beyond 10% and you're practically assured of substantial returns..
SWZ is a real under the radar gem...typically something not seen on this miserable site. Reply
