Nine borrowers (including NWL, JCI, TER) have raised $3.2B this year through convertible bonds sales - the first in half a year. "If companies are able to sell securities and investors are clamoring to buy them, it’s definitely a sign that credit markets are healing."

Barrington downgrades Newell Rubbermaid (NWL -0.4%) to Underperform after last week's outlook forces analysts to pare EPS and revenue estimates. "We were not anticipating further reduction in the 2009 outlook, nor did we anticipate a 50% reduction in the dividend. We believe investors will be disappointed, leading to additional selling pressure over the near term."
