  • Thursday 11:40 PM In the next step after Dish Network's (DISH) pre-emptive legal strike, Fox (NWS), NBC (CMCSA) and CBS have now all sued the satellite provider over its commercial-skipping "AutoHop" technology, claiming copyright and licensing violations. Subtle questions over who controls the skipping could dictate whether Dish faces the fate of ReplayTV: being sued out of existence.

  • Tuesday 12:05 PM InterActiveCorp-backed (IACI +1.1%) Aereo succeeds in getting an unfair competition claim that was part of a lawsuit attempting to shut down its $12/month local TV streaming service dismissed. A ruling is still pending on a copyright infringement claim. Broadcasters such as CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox accuse Aereo of depriving them of retransmission fees from pay-TV providers (ed: the pay-TV providers aren't thrilled about paying for content that's aired for free).

  • Monday 11:58 AM Hulu continues to add to its arsenal of original content (previous). The latest additions include movie-review show Spoilers, travel series Up to Speed, and U.K.-based comedy Rev. Netflix (NFLX) has been investing in plenty of original content of its own.
