- Friday, December 7, 2012, 10:56 AM A Gazprom-led consortium formally starts construction of the South Stream gas pipeline in what is hailed by CEO Alexei Miller as an historic event representing the bonding of the Russian and European gas transport systems. - Monday, November 26, 2012, 8:38 AM BP says it is in early talks with the Gazprom-led Nord Stream pipeline consortium over an extension of the link to carry gas directly to the U.K. BP has long been interested in the pipeline extension, and its recent agreement to sell its 50% stake in the TNK-BP venture to Rosneft plus the agreement of the Russian partners to sell their share has released BP to pursue new ventures in Russia.
