    August is the Time to Buy Odyssey Marine Exploration [view article]
    Sorry leadpimp I have to disagree. I have been holding OMEX since inception and have yet to see any cash. However I can only see upside. First the price was so low that if I lost everything it would not be the end of the world.But secondly even if they drive down the value of coins and even, though, inconceivably gold the finds are of sufficient magnitude to make for significant profits. Even the total loss of "Black Swan" would not bring the company too far down. Of course the total loss is not realistic. And after all the current treasure is already on US soil. You are welcome to your view and of course welcome not to buy. Now, where is that buy button.?..... Reply

    Insiders own 6.51% and Institutions own 41.9%. The short interest is down in the past month. Numismatic values are absurdly inflated. When you dump thousands of "rare" coins on the market their value plummets. With a market cap of 238 million OMEX is a joke, all of the coin sales will be sucked up in legal costs. Classic PUMP and DUMP! Hedgie looking for suckers to salvage a perilous position. Reply

    See the Juno and Galga case: www.nps.gov/archeology...

    the treasure is for Spain No matter the service of the ship, was a ship fleted by the goverment.
    And more: according to the UNESCO, any shipwreck with more that 100 years is considered archaeological remains, so really, don't exist salvage for goverment ships sunk time ago, only despoliation, and this, is a criminal act in all countries.

    You don't need to have a good case in these matters, to tie things up legally for years. All you need are deep pockets and persistence. They may settle out of court, at some point, but OMEX will get a pittance, if they're lucky, or still in business. Reply

    Michael... Your article covered everything, but there is one correction that I would like to make. It has not been shown that the Mercedes was a warship. In fact, Odyssey has said in their court case that she was registered as a mail ship at the time of loss. I'm sure once it's proven the Mercedes was on a commercial voyage, the court case will conclude in short time making Lonnie's statement moot. Reply

    One more little thing. This company lost $23 million last year, so what's $2 million from Discovery worth. This company will have to issue more stock to cover it's losses and to keep paying its lawyers. Buying this stock is not a call option on anything. Don't delude yourself. Reply

    The legal battle could drag on for decades. Try reading Ship of Gold, to gain some perspective on the legal hurdles that must be overcome; they're daunting. Reply

    Treasure Hunter Odyssey Marine Jumps on Gold Ship Recovery Agreement [view article]
    It is common for companies to jump on the "Look at me - I am here too" bandwagon and sneak as much limelite as they can from the fortune of others (OMR) so do not be too disappointed in DBM for doing so. A number of small cap corporations involved in similar fields routinely make such congratulatory comments in the hope they too will be noticed. Some even go so far as to slam their competitors (Ford & GMC for example). As far as DBM waving their flag - it is a common thing to see although it may be regarded as a cheap way of getting some advertising, it is not necessarily as effective as one may think most of the time. The main story usually takes most of the limelite. Reply

    Odyssey Marine Exploration: Digging for Gold - And Finding It [view article]
    News:
    <blockquote>
    July 17, 2007 09:38 AM
    Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc.’s (NASDAQ:OMEX) survey vessel, the Ocean Alert, was cleared for departure by the Spanish Guardia Civil on Saturday, July 14; however, because of a need to replace required paperwork that was removed from the ship’s bridge during the inspection and a holiday that found authorities unavailable to provide documentation required for departure, the ship has not yet departed. The ship had been detained in the Spanish port of Algeciras since Thursday, July 12, 2007, undergoing a thorough inspection by the Guardia Civil.

    “We were confident that an inspection by the Guardia Civil would not reveal any evidence of alleged activities in the area as we have always acted legally and have consistently communicated our movements in the area to the Guardia Civil and marine traffic authorities,” said Greg Stemm, Co-founder of Odyssey Marine Exploration. “We are pleased to have the ship released so we can put it back to work on other shipwreck projects.”...
