    OM Group (OMG +9.1%) agrees to sell its advanced materials business for $325M to a JV that includes Freeport McMoRan (FCX); OMG says it also may receive up to an additional $110M based upon certain revenue targets over a three-year period. OMG says the sale is in line with its strategy to shift toward technology-based businesses with attractive growth prospects and more predictable profits.

    OM Group (OMG +6%) gets a boost after KeyBanc says if OMG sells its 55% stake in a Congo joint venture and its Finland cobalt refinery, "this would be a catalyst for shares to move well above the current share price... in a relatively short period of time." If the deal goes through. the firm sees strong upside potential in OMG shares while the downside risk is "relatively minimal."

    Shares of specialty chemicals maker OM Group (OMG +9%) are upgraded to Overweight with a $39 price target at First Analysis, primarily on valuation. The firm believes renewed marketing focus could gain traction with investors "hunting in the chemicals/materials bargain bin."

    Shares of OM Group (OMG -3.3%) taper off after KeyBanc takes its rating down to Hold from Buy after it missed earnings estimates earlier this week. An analyst with KeyBanc says that although shares are attractive on several metrics, falling cobalt prices and a challenging H1 outlook stand in the way of near-term potential.
