Who's on First, Services Oriented Architecture or Web Oriented Architecture? [view article]
Very interesting and thought provoking. However that focus on technology and yet "better" mouse trap, at the expense of underlying business processes quality, is what leads IT organizations to spiraling costs and diving satisfaction. Reply

Oracle Q3 Post-Mortem: Will Q4 Be Stronger? [view article]
Revenue from just acquired companies is not growth y/y.

What is the revenue from organic growth? I bet you have no idea.

What's the heck is that MGI index/score anyway? It's meaningless.

Please don't be a talking mouth or should I say a blithering idiot to be precise.

Slumping Software Stocks: Opportunity for Investors? [view article]
As a Learning solutions manager for Unitek IT, I found this article quite interesting.

So from what I understand from this article, is that june or july would be a good time to move on SAP or CRM?

Oracle Cheaper Than Ever Following Earnings Disappointment [view article]
Agreed that Oracle missed on sales - but come on...it doesn't deserve a low p/e of 20.05 (as of Monday 3/31/08). And with such a great roe of over 27? No way. Such a steal at this price.

Oh, and its moat is that its horrendously difficult for businesses to migrate from one database application to another. This means Oracle has built in revenue streams for the future.

Combine this issue with the fact that Oracle's databases' are going to become more and more complex in the future - and the fact that these databases will be used even more - and it means that ORCL is a strong buy at this time.

Red Hat Earnings: JBoss Taking Share From Oracle? [view article]
Give us a break. Taking share from ORCL? If you're gonna use a hook in your headline to draw readers, you're gonna need a bit more substance than what you think you see under a Red Hat. Try an non-colored crystal ball next time if you wish to speculate. Reply

Red Hat Earnings: JBoss Taking Share From Oracle? [view article]
To be fair to Vaughn Nichols, there is a large community of FUDsters out there that keeps shouting that open source is anticapitalistic and is an unmitigated destroyer of value. Red Hat has, of course, been making a profit, but this quarter's results indicate that it's possible to do so on a consistent basis. Reply

Eric Saitz was totally negative on Apple approximately a month or so ago, he bashed Apple several times with his opinion based on other opinions mostly and not any or many concrete actual facts. Then one day, in someones comment to one of his articles, someone listed Eric's home address. Since then I have noticed Eric is not as negative, especially on Apple. This reminds me somewhat of a comment Charlie Gasparino made on CNBC about 2 years ago. Gasparino said something to the effect that Goldman Sacks tells their clients to buy a stock and at the same time Goldman is selling the stock and he couldn't understand why those clients still stayed with Goldman. Gasparino realized what he said and quickly changed the subject. Gasparino who had been on CNBC alot, suddenly did not appear on CNBC that much. But don't take my word for it, as Warner Wolf used to say, "lets go to the tape." Reply

The problem at Oracle is the crazy leadership over there! Having unstable people in charge is never good for business!

I agree: Buy. Oracle didn't really "miss" on its' earnings; it only "missed" on the analysts' expectations. They've been expecting, and providing, 20% growth year over year. The engine is good; the pundits are bad. Reply
