Here's What Will Happen To Apple's Rivals [view article]
and if jobs departs the scene? ReplyHere's What Will Happen To Apple's Rivals [view article]
New iPhone is not "half-as-expensiv... in the US, since AT&T simply increased the monthly subscription (which is required) by $10, more than offsetting the up front outlay. Also, "twice-as-fast&qu... is Apple marketing hype that only applies to use of the iPhone for browsing/downloading in areas that have 3G service available. In the US, much of the country will only have EDGE for a long time. The processor in the new iPhone is exactly the same as the original so for many, the iPhone will not see any speed improvements. Overall IT Spending Remains Soft; Research In Motion Comes Out Ahead [view article]
Here is what you heard. AAPL clearing stores out for the much heralded IPHONE replacement. Here is what happened. The company failed on the supply chain side as I said a month ago. Here is what is going to take place. RIMM with corporate ties will now take Apple to task in the commercial marketplace with kids, teens, and families. While Apple continues to fumble in supply chain. ReplyAccessories
Palm Centro: Doing Well, But the iPhone's Coming [view article]
It is a great device, very compact. keyboard is small, but that is to be expected with a smaller device ReplyOverall IT Spending Remains Soft; Research In Motion Comes Out Ahead [view article]
happy father's day ReplyiPhone 3G Fallout: Good for Towers, Bad for Palm [view article]
I think you VASTLY underestimate the appeal of the iPhone. I will be leaving my wireless company in July in order to get an iPhone and most of my colleagues will be doing the same.Apple has addressed a lot of it's short comings with this new iPhone and with the upgraded speed of the 3G network combined with the overall power and features of the phone, the iPhone is now the standard against which all other smart phones will be compared.
Not to mention how sexy the thing is! I know I'm sounding like an Apple fanboy here, but the facts are undeniable. Sure you can put all the bells and whistles on another handset. LG has some pretty nice handsets as well. But nothing comes close to the iPhone's looks and operating system. The amount of 3rd party applications ALONE make it worth having. Reply

The Centro is on AT&T as well, though rumored to be selling poorly there. As such, one doesn't have to switch carriers to use the iPhone instead. Reply
Palm Girds for a Smartphone Comeback [view article]
Palm is passé. They lost me when they bought Handspring and immediately dropped Apple development, and they have gone downhill ever since. They also use Windows Mobile OS now (oy!) and have no redeeming features that I am aware of. They will be lucky to remain in business within a few years, let alone stage a come-back that could match, let alone beat, iPhone. They have as much chance of doing that as Zune did of killing iPod. (You DO remember Zune... ?)(Writer has Apple stocks and is long on Apple - for a good reason - they are the superior OS and product!) Reply

Palm up up and away......Verizon deal on $99 Centro will corner the low end of the market, for which the iPhone is not targeting. A billion dollar market cap is in the offing again for Palm- ReplyPalm Brings Centro to Verizon Wireless [view article]
Because you are a vz customer your opinion does not matter. ReplyPalm Brings Centro to Verizon Wireless [view article]
This is great news for PALM. I think the Centro is part of the reason AAPL lowered the price on the iPhone. ReplyPalm Girds for a Smartphone Comeback [view article]
I live my life through a used Palm T3 that I bought off ebay and pimped to its maximum. I too would love for my first smart phone to be one that that is directly compatible. That said, there are too many questions here that Palm isn't answering. If they are about to come out with a new phone now, it's going to be a Windows Mobile device. Has anyone else noticed that NO company has ever made a consistent profit off a Windows Mobile device? Such a device would be immediately judged against the Samsung Instinct that just came out; that is against a new device of a new entrant to the market. The iPhone market would barely twitch. Palm, the supposed market veteran, would have to chop its prices below Samsung to stay in the game, and it cannot afford another second tier $99 giveaway eating at its own declining Treo market.
And the new Linux-based platform they are supposed to be creating? Where/What/When is it? Palm is playing that card so close to its chest, that we don't even have a firm date! We're given no details about it which tells me there are no details to give.
Sadly, I believe Palm's window of opportunity has passed. Even a home run at this point would do no good when they have lost the ball park. Reply

TanToday has it right. Apple is doubling it's physical retail space because it's NOT a one-trick-pony. They make $ on everything and they have a mountain of cash to keep leading with innovation. I know so many people who, after just being in an Apple store for the first time, went back and bought...after being blown away by such wonderful service and helpful attitudes by the entire staff, as well as beautiful products. I'm long on APPL and being in an Apple Store just makes my heart sing! ReplyInvestor

I like Palm products, and I like Apple products. I don't have a smart phone and don't need one so far. But I do have Palm TX and it's my third Palm (had a Visor first, then T3, which is now my wife's ebook reader). Palm always had great products. And never managed to make money of them, not enough to please investors anyway.Disclosure: long Apple, don't have and not going to have any positions in Palm. Reply
