Tuesday, August 28, 2012, 11:48 AM Autodesk (ADSK +3.2%) has bought some of the assets of Inforbix, a developer of cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) software. Autodesk, which competes with PMTC and DASTY in the PLM space, plans to integrate Inforbix's technology within its cloud-based PLM360 suite, and has named Inforbix co-founder Oleg Shilovitsky its Senior Director of PLM and Data Management. Thursday, August 23, 2012, 5:59 PM Autodesk's (ADSK) Q2 miss and ugly guidance has led to modest AH drops in CAD software rivals Parametric (PMTC) and Ansys (ANSS). During its earnings call, Autodesk claimed weak sales in Central Europe (Germany?), Brazil, and India had much to do with its revenue shortfall. Also, demand didn't pick up in July ahead of an August product refresh/price increase, as is historically the case. ADSK -22.4% AH. Comment! [Tech, Earnings]
Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 8:08 AM Parametric (PMTC), which provides product-design software, agrees to buy closely held Servigistics for around $220M in a deal that will strengthen Parametric's Web process management offerings. Monday, July 2, 2012, 11:08 AM In addition to Qlik, Jefferies, is downgrading Parametric Technology (PMTC -4.6%) to Hold, citing checks that point to weakening demand. The firm adds it expects organic growth, which already appears to be under pressure given Parametric's Q2 guidance, to remain depressed for a while longer. Organic licensing revenue decreased 10% Y/Y, negatively impacted by a large transaction in Europe that didn't close and weak North American sales. The company also guides FY12 revenue lower, now expecting to earn $1.27B - $1.29B versus $1.31B - $1.33B previously expected. Street expectations were for $1.29B. Shares -0.9% AH. Comment! [Earnings]

PMTC says license revenue was impacted by a large transaction in Europe that did not close and lower than expected results in North America.
