- Monday, January 14, 3:12 AM Portugal Telecom (PT) and U.K.-based Cable & Wireless (CBWYY.PK) agree to sell their combined 79% holding in Cia. de Telecomunicacoes de Macau to China's Citic Telecom for $1.16B. Portugal Telecom will receive $411.6M for its 28% while C&W will receive $749.7M for its 51%. The sale is part of the European telecom companies' strategies to streamline their operations. Comment! - Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 7:28 AM Telefonica (TEF) reaches an initial agreement to buy Portugal Telecom's (PT) stake in Vivo (VIV), but declines to provide a price for the deal, which must still be approved by the boards of both companies. Sources say Telefonica offered €7.5B ($9.8B), marking its third bid increase and a 32% jump from its initial offer. Comment!
