Qwest (Q) is ending its mobile phone service to focus on its landline business and its partnership with Verizon Wireless (VZ). Customers have 60 days to find a new wireless provider. Shares -1.6% premarket.

Qwest (Q) calls off the auction for its nationwide long-haul data and telephone network, saying the network is more valuable to the company than the amount of money a sale would generate. Shares -5.2%.

If Qwest (Q) sells its long-distance network, it would be left largely as a regional provider of telephone and internet services to consumers. Potential bidders could include AT&T (T), Verizon (VZ) and Level 3 Communications (LVLT). (previously)
