Nokia's Qualcomm Smear Campaign Won't Work [view article]
This is great news! ReplyMarket Beater Douglas Lane's 4 Picks - Barron's Interview [view article]
I agree 138602. The point is not that the market will go up 60%. The point is after hitting a bottom in 82 the market rose substantially the next 9 mos. Lane is saying market may retest low of 2008 which is 10,700 for DOW. However no one knows future and if the market doesn't retest 2008 low and you stay on sideline. You risk missing a nice possible upside. It's called risk/reward percentage. ReplyMarket Beater Douglas Lane's 4 Picks - Barron's Interview [view article]
they were talking about 1982 not this market. next time take the time to read it carefully and by the way you can keep your negative attitude for yourself.Reply

In 1982, the PE ratio was about 8x. How about now, it's 26x, and 19x after you exclude all the financials. 60% jump from 19x PE? Are they day-dreaming? Replyz

Remember last time a liberal was in the white house...tech went wild, oildropped to 12 a barrel and the economy soared. I'll take all that. Reply

First of all, I am not a Democrat and will not vote for a Democrat.I think most investors had a strong feeling that between now and election time, the Republicans would apply extreme pressure anywhere and in anyway they could to boost the market. They are having some success it seems. However, they can do the most in controlling commodity prices. Getting them down as we see happening now. Low and high estimates as needed to influence commodity prices, along with personal pressures applied to those in most control of the targeted commodities. No telling how low we will see some go in the near, but hold on after 2008. Reply

I realize that IBM is not in the S&P, but it is a Dow component and near its 5 year high. It has had a great run. ReplyBoard and Executive Compensation in S&P 500 [view article]
its all a self serving scam.the new word should be "suckerholder&quo... stockholder.the ceo's & bod's are just selfserving & nobody mentions the suckerholder in the boardroom. pay should only be by dividend fro shares bought by management & bod's & no options.that would straighten things out real quick.utopia? ReplyBoard and Executive Compensation in S&P 500 [view article]
Jackooo...you are exactly correct. The companies send out proxies, etc., as a "feel good" exercise, not something that will result in any change of directors, management, etc. The mutual funds are not doing their jobs when they simply go along to get along with extreme compensation packages being set up by compensation committees. Any time a compny is losing money badly, but gives top executives major pay raises, something is wrong inside the management of the companies. ReplyBoard and Executive Compensation in S&P 500 [view article]
Years ago when it became so obvious to me that boards of directors were nothing more than good old boys clubs, rubber stamps for corporate executives and every bit as greedy, I began to look in the proxy for the identities of the Compensation Committee. Every proxy I have voted since I have withheld my vote for those committee members and have encouraged others to do the same. May never have an affect but at least its something I can do to express my dissatisfaction... ReplyBoard and Executive Compensation in S&P 500 [view article]
I have both T and CMCSA. I notice their executive teams are paid the most. That's a shame from these two losers. The SEC can make up lots more rules & I can vote against the board but unless the mutual fund companies vote their shares against the boards, we individual share holders might as well forget proxy voting.
I cannot understand why the funds don't take the reigns? It is their clients that are losing money. It is true that most of the clients are dumb and lazy regarding financial savy but gezz. You would think the funds would do something, no?? Reply
Board and Executive Compensation in S&P 500 [view article]
giving the people on the board hefty 'compensation' really amounts to a bribe by the top execs to keep the big exec $ coming, no matter what. Warren Buffet does it right, when it comes to this. good article. thank you. ReplySemiconductor Rankings: Roadmap to Investment Opportunities? [view article]
It's Funny you should say that as That was the same thing I got back in 2003..... followed by "They won't make it through the rest of the year". We all know what happened after that.Needless to say they've given intel a run for their money before and they will do it again. It's just a matter of when Reply

user 1997: actually ive been following MSN stockscouter for a long time. it actually does better when the market is flat or down. it's because it focuses on the best stocks at any given time. when the market is falling, particularly led by large-cap stocks, those declining stocks get the lowest ratings. ... this shows that if you only AVOID the WORST stocks, you dont actually have to own the BEST to outperform the market.
