Tuesday, June 11, 12:21 PM Jefferies analyst Biren Amin weighs in on Questcor (QCOR +21%), saying that some of today's move has to do with the short interest being around 32% of its float, but adds that its purchase of Synacthen removes an overhang and has the potential to eliminate a competitive threat going forward. For that to happen however, trials from Synacthen and Synacthen Depot in rheumatology, multiple sclerosis, IS and NS will need to demonstrate solid efficacy and safety within the US. While not likely to provide any sweeping new information, the presentation will paint a clearer picture of what lies ahead for Acthar gel in the realm of an alternative treatment for certain rheumatology-related conditions. The company says that the quarter was negatively impacted by several transitional events, including: distribution channel disruptions due to the Medicaid rebate change, the timing of Acthar orders that were received and filled and the introduction of a new reimbursement support center. BioVectra is a contract manufacturing services provider to the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry and manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients, chemical intermediates, and bioprocessing reagents.
