Friday, May 17, 5:46 PM QLogic (QLGC) CEO Simon Biddiscombe has resigned from his position, as well as from the company's board, to "pursue other opportunities." CFO Jean Hu has been named interim CEO while a search commences for a replacement. Biddiscombe became CEO in Nov. 2010, after serving as CFO for two years. QLogic has had a rough time during Biddiscombe's tenure, as both the company and archrival Emulex contended with soft storage adapter card demand and competitive pressures. Shares -2.2% AH. Comment! Friday, May 3, 5:25 PM Storage adapter card/switch archrivals Emulex (ELX +2.7%) and QLogic (QLGC -7.4%) went in opposite directions following their March quarter reports. Emulex, which closed yesterday not far from its 52-week low, outperformed after posting a revenue beat and guiding for FQ4 revenue of $118M-$122M and EPS of $0.11-$0.13; the consensus is at $116.7M and $0.16. QLogic got hammered as its FQ4 beat became overshadowed by FQ1 guidance for revenue of $110M-$116M and EPS of $0.11-$0.16, below a consensus of $116.9M and $0.17. Friday, March 22, 8:39 AM QLogic (QLGC) announced a new $125M unsecured revolving credit facility Friday. The deal was led by JPMorgan. The company said it has no immediate plans to draw on the facility but noted that it does provide financial flexibility at "a very attractive interest rate." Comment! [Tech]

Friday, January 25, 10:21 AM QLogic (QLGC +18.6%) surges after reporting FQ3 revenue of $119.4M (-16% Y/Y) and EPS of $0.20, beating a consensus of $117.5M and $0.18. Storage adapter card and controller chip sales fell sharply Y/Y, while switch sales ticked higher. On its earnings call, QLogic guided for FQ4 revenue of $112M-$118M and EPS of $0.13-$0.17 vs. a consensus of $111.5M and $0.15. SA's Ashra Eassa offered a detailed bull case for QLogic a month ago. Tuesday, January 8, 11:15 AM More on William Blair's downgrade of EMC (EMC -2.2%): Analyst Jason Ader says checks indicate EMC had trouble closing deals with large companies in Q4, something that will likely lead results to be in-line or below consensus. He's also worried about the threat posed by newer, more efficient technologies - many Internet/cloud companies have been eschewing traditional storage gear in favor of flash storage and commodity hardware.
