- Thursday, May 16, 7:38 AM Cisco (CSCO) is now up 9.4% premarket following last night's earnings and guidance. Lazard's Ryan Hitchinson notes guidance was light, but likely beat a lot of the whispers out there. He also believes management is remaining conservative amid improving demand trends. A bellwether no more, Cisco's moonshot is having little effect on the QQQs, which are barely green at the moment. 6 Comments [Tech, On the Move]

Friday, May 3, 4:55 PM
The week's ETF movers - Gainers: XLK +3.9%. QQQ +3.7%. EPI +3.6%. EWY +3.2%. ILF +3.1%.
ETF Losers: GAZ -4.6%. UNG -4.2%. VXX -2.8%. GDXJ -2.4%. TLT -2.0%. Comment! [On the Move] - Monday, April 15, 6:57 AM S&P 500 (SPY) futures -0.5%, Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) -0.4% as the liquidation in precious metals continues. Other sensitive commodities: WTI crude (USO) -2.5% to $88.76, and copper (JJC) -3.4% to $3.23. 6 Comments [On the Move]
- Friday, April 5, 6:58 AM S&P 500 (SPY) futures slide 0.5% and Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) -0.5% ahead of this mornings non-farm payroll report. Europe is tumbling for a 2nd day, the Stoxx 50 (FEZ) -1.3%, led by Germany (EWG) -1.8%. 1 Comment [On the Move]
- Wednesday, March 27, 6:09 AM Various markets dive after the BOE spells out the continued massive risks to British banks. Half of the £25B that banks must raise this year has been factored into their capital-raising plans. All in all, major banks and building societies face a £50B reduction in their regulatory capital, although HSBC (HBC) doesn't face a shortfall. FTSE 100 -0.1%, S&P futures -0.2%. - Monday, March 18, 6:11 AM Stock futures slide, but are off the lows following news of Cyprus' proposal for a one-time tax on bank deposits as part of a Troika bailout. Dow -0.5%, S&P -0.8%, Nasdaq -0.95%. 6 Comments [Global & FX, Top Stories, On the Move, U.S. Economy]
- Wednesday, January 23, 5:08 PM NASDAQ 100 futures -0.5% AH after Apple trades lower on mixed FQ1 numbers and light FQ2 revenue guidance. As one would expect, Apple chip suppliers are also lower. CRUS -6.5% AH. QCOM -1.1%. BRCM -1.7%. SWKS -5.1%. AVGO -1.3%. TQNT -1.4%. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Thursday, January 3, 6:28 AM Like European shares, U.S. stock futures are suffering a bit after partying hard yesterday following the fiscal cliff deal. Dow -0.15%, S&P -0.3% and Nasdaq -0.1%. Meanwhile, crude is -0.6%, gold -0.4% and silver -0.3%, although copper is +0.2%. Comment! [Top Stories, On the Move, U.S. Economy]
- Friday, May 18, 2012, 12:35 PM After falling all the way to its IPO price of $38, Facebook (FB +8.9%) has bounced, and is now trading at $41.37. That's helped the NASDAQ, down ~1% at one point, head back towards breakeven. Zero Hedge notes over 30M shares traded at $38. "That's some serious underwriter buying," it quips. 17 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Wednesday, April 25, 2012, 2:12 PM Stocks stumble just a little following changes to the FOMC's economic forecast which show an upgraded view of the economy and inflation's speed - not the sort of estimates put together by a group fixing to launch additional policy easing. DJIA +0.3%, S&P 500 +1%. 3 Comments [U.S. Economy, On the Move]
- Monday, April 16, 2012, 1:46 PM There's no clear trigger behind the latest selloff in Apple (AAPL -3.4%); shares are now down 9% from their Tuesday high. Some speculate Texas Instruments' (TXN) addition to the NASDAQ 100 (QQQ) is playing a role, as index funds will need to sell some Apple to rebalance, but that can't explain why fellow large-cap index members Microsoft (MSFT +0.9%) and Intel (INTC +1%) are up. With Apple still up 43% YTD, perhaps a breather was inevitable. 89 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Monday, April 16, 2012, 9:59 AM Even with the Dow up 100, tech is selling off this morning, QQQ -0.9%. Apple is off 3.2%, seeing a $580 handle for the first time in a month. Google is off 3.2%, its lowest price in a month as well. Other stalwarts: Priceline -2.2%, Chipotle -1.5%. Comment! [On the Move]
- Friday, March 23, 2012, 10:14 AM Stocks add to losses following disappointing new home sales (January revised lower as well). Builders certainly can't blame the weather or mortgage rates. Scott Barber points out NAHB optimism isn't yet being confirmed by better data on sales. S&P 500 -0.4%, Nasdaq -0.6%. 4 Comments [On the Move, U.S. Economy]
- Monday, March 12, 2012, 10:34 AM After a quick move higher on Tuesday's sell off, the VIX (VXX -2.6%) dives to its lowest level in a year, as calm (complacency?) reigns. John Spence notes investors cancelling insurance policies for market pullbacks by pulling cash from volatility-linked ETFs 2 Comments [On the Move]
- Friday, March 9, 2012, 8:38 AM U.S. stock index futures pop a bit higher after the NFP print, pretty much inline, but with a sizable revision higher to the January number. S&P +0.2%. European shares reverse small losses, Stoxx 50 +0.2%. Comment! [On the Move]
- Monday, January 30, 2012, 2:51 PM Investors may be a bit too bullish on the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ +0.2%) following the index’s recent rally to decade highs, as Tom McClellan suspects sentiment readings and a classic reversal signal suggest a significant pullback at hand. But sure enough, techs are leading an intraday rally that's trimming losses on the major indexes. AAPL +1.3%, DELL +1.8% and MSFT +1.1% lead the way. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
