- DealReporter states Quantum (QTM +5%) has has received a buyout offer, and has initiated a sale process in response.
- Activist investor Starboard Value has reportedly been pressuring the low-end storage hardware/software vendor to evaluate ts options. Starboard took a double-digit stake in Quantum last year, and secured a board seat five months ago.

Though unlike Quantum, which sports a price/sales ratio of just 0.8, CommVault wouldn't come cheap: the storage software vendor, which has been taking share from Symantec (SYMC) in major enterprise accounts, has a trailing P/E of 51. | Comment!
