Wednesday, June 5, 11:54 PM Qantas Airways (QUBSF.PK) has sold part of its stake in startup Jetstar Hong Kong to Shun Tak Holdings. Originally a 50-50 joint venture with China Eastern Airlines (CEA), the new low-cost carrier now has three equal investors. The hope is that the inclusion of a local investor (Shun Tak founder is Hong Kong billionaire Stanley Ho) will help the new airline get its operating license. Wednesday, April 3, 12:31 PM The latest batch of data from IATA show a 3.7% increase in global airline passenger traffic in February with emerging markets making for ongoing sluggishness in Europe. Over the last four months, passenger demand has grown at a 9% annualized clip. The 10-year deal would move past code-sharing to include cross-selling seats on each other's flights. However, Qantas is keeping an order for the 787-8, 15 of which are due to be delivered in H2 next year. Not only are passengers pleased with the diversion, but the cost savings of ditching the electronics equipment and wiring to provide inflight entertainment is enormous.
