- Friday, September 21, 2012, 2:59 PM Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (REGN -0.7%) announces that the FDA has approved Eylea Injection for the treatment of macular edema. The approval was based on data from Phase 3 studies which showed results for Eylea were superior to those for the sham control group for the primary endpoint. Comment! [Healthcare]
- Thursday, August 23, 2012, 3:21 PM Regeneron (REGN +3.4%) spikes higher once again today on takeover chatter involving Sanofi (SNY -1%). A spokesperson for the company declined to comment, on any takeover talks, noting that the two companies have a solid working relationship and have stated it would be advantageous to keep the relationship going as it is now, as separate companies. SNY is currently REGN's largest shareholder, with a standstill agreement in place that prevents SNY from acquiring more than 30% of REGN. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, August 13, 2012, 9:33 AM TheStreet reckons Regeneron (REGN) is a "buy," upgrading it from "hold." The site's Ratings department cites Regeneron's robust revenue, net income and EPS growth, its solid stock price performance, and largely solid financial position. These strengths outweigh Regeneron's weak operating cash flow. Comment! [Quick Ideas, Healthcare]
- Friday, August 3, 2012, 2:36 PM Sanofi (SNY +4.8%) is higher today after the FDA approves Zaltrap, a drug developed by SNY and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (REGN +1%) for the treatment of advanced colon cancer. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, August 1, 2012, 8:31 AM The FDA has asked for more information from Regeneron (REGN) about the use of its autoinflammatory drug Arcalyst to treat joint pain caused by gout medicines. The FDA has concerns about Arcalyst's links to cancer. The drug is already approved to treat a rare genetic autoinflammatory disease; extending its use for gout could have added up to $200M a year in sales. Comment! [Healthcare]
- Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 10:35 AM More on Regeneron (REGN) Q2: swings to net profit of $76.7M from loss of $62.5M last year, boosted by sales of its Eylea eye treatment, which surged 57% Q/Q to $194M. - Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 11:04 AM Regeneron (REGN -8.5%) dives after privately-owned Opthotech reports positive Phase 2b results for its Fovista drug. Fovista, working in tandem with Roche's (RHHBY.PK) Lucentis, treats a form of macular degeneration, and stands to compete with Regeneron's Eylea. Lucentis. Jefferies is defending Regeneron, arguing Fovista could just as well work in tandem with Eylea. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Friday, June 1, 2012, 2:06 PM Cowen's Phil Nadeau says that its latest physician survey suggests sales of Regeneron's (REGN 8.9%) big revenue driver, Eylea, may be slowing. Measuring the uptake of the company's treatment for a leading cause of blindness in the elderly, the number of patients on the drug grew 22% from March to May, compared to 155% growth from January to March. Based on this level of deceleration, Cowen thinks the stock may be rich at these levels. 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, May 30, 2012, 1:27 PM Baird defends Regeneron (REGN -2.1%) this morning, saying the drug developer's downstream has significant potential.
