Thursday, May 16, 1:39 PM Infinity Pharmaceuticals (INFI -20.5%) gets slammed by cautious comments out of JPMorgan today, saying that investors are "growing increasingly skittish" ahead of INFI's pending presentation at June's ASCO cancer conference. Wednesday, May 15, 10:33 AM The FDA has approved a companion diagnostic test for Roche's (RHHBY.OB +0.5%) cancer drug Tarceva, which detects certain gene mutations present in some non-small cell lung cancers. The cobas epidermal growth factor receptor, or EGFR, Mutation Test is the first FDA-approved companion diagnostic that detects a kind of gene mutation present in about 10% of non-small cell lung cancers, and, together with the drug, will be used as a first line treatment. Monday, May 6, 1:36 PM Merck (MRK -1.3%) gets no love today from the FDA's approval of Liptruxet late Friday, as the stock is likely dragged down with the rest of the big pharma names on the back of a CNBC report that criticizes their earnings so far. The article points to the fact that pharmaceutical companies have seen a 4.7% contraction in earnings, and a 3.2% drop in revenue this quarter. Why? Friday, April 26, 11:12 AM Medivation (MDVN +0.6%) and Astellas Pharma (ALPMF.PK) say the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has recommended approval for the oral androgen receptor inhibitor XTANDI (approved in the U.S.) for adult men with progressed metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. Monday, April 8, 9:26 AM Isis Pharmaceuticals (ISIS) forms an alliance with Roche (RHHBY.OB) to utilize Isis' technology to develop innovative treatments for Huntington's disease. The companies will look to advance Isis' lead drug candidate which works by blocking the huntingtin protein.
