What is wrong with both RIMM and AAPL winning?
The world is a big place and a huge market, there is plenty of room for both to do well and profit.
Being Canadian I support RIMM and I love AAPL products and own shares, I my world both succeed.
It seems my friends south of the 49th. always need to have a winner and a loser. Why not learn to play win/win?
    EH!

Canaccord Analyst: Research In Motion to Hit C$200 [view article]
Analyst seems to have neglected Valuation. He mentioned the "handsets are still selling like hot cakes with no end in sight" ?

At a price of $200/sh the company would be valued at over $110bn.

Sale and Profits for the past 12 months were, $6bn and $1.3bn earning. Currently the stock is priced to more than perfection, with an unknown future.

The numbers are like the bubbles of 2000- currently RIM has a p/e of over 60 and is valued at over 13 times annual sales.

Apple Hype Priced In - Stop Trading! (6/9/08) [view article]
    >>>Motorola and Nokia, please deliver us from unfair practice and mediocre products. <<<

Uh, last year, about this time there WAS NO iPHONE....

So, tell me again how they are the "good guys" and your "white knights?"

Honestly, some people are BORN to be drama queens.

iPhone 3G Fallout: Good for Towers, Bad for Palm [view article]
I think you VASTLY underestimate the appeal of the iPhone. I will be leaving my wireless company in July in order to get an iPhone and most of my colleagues will be doing the same.

Apple has addressed a lot of it's short comings with this new iPhone and with the upgraded speed of the 3G network combined with the overall power and features of the phone, the iPhone is now the standard against which all other smart phones will be compared.

Not to mention how sexy the thing is! I know I'm sounding like an Apple fanboy here, but the facts are undeniable. Sure you can put all the bells and whistles on another handset. LG has some pretty nice handsets as well. But nothing comes close to the iPhone's looks and operating system. The amount of 3rd party applications ALONE make it worth having.

THIS ANALYST ON RIMM AT CANACCORD HAS NO CREDIBILITY BASED On HIS TRACK RECORD FROM JAN 08 TO JUN 08. He was downgrading RIMM in January 08, after one of its best quarters ever in Dec 08 and was one of the factors causing the stock to tank to the low 80s in Jan/Feb 08, then he changes his mind and admits the mistake after causing a lot of damage and after RIMM was back up to $110 and now that the 3G IPhone is on the RIMM attack, he is out defending RIMM and increasing its price target. Bottomline: Disregard Peter Misek at Canaccord and pay attention to RIMM's management team and AAPL's management team for Misek's analysis is useless. Reply

Palm Girds for a Smartphone Comeback [view article]
Palm is passé. They lost me when they bought Handspring and immediately dropped Apple development, and they have gone downhill ever since. They also use Windows Mobile OS now (oy!) and have no redeeming features that I am aware of. They will be lucky to remain in business within a few years, let alone stage a come-back that could match, let alone beat, iPhone. They have as much chance of doing that as Zune did of killing iPod. (You DO remember Zune... ?)

(Writer has Apple stocks and is long on Apple - for a good reason - they are the superior OS and product!)

Palm up up and away......Verizon deal on $99 Centro will corner the low end of the market, for which the iPhone is not targeting. A billion dollar market cap is in the offing again for Palm- Reply

I live my life through a used Palm T3 that I bought off ebay and pimped to its maximum. I too would love for my first smart phone to be one that that is directly compatible. That said, there are too many questions here that Palm isn't answering.

If they are about to come out with a new phone now, it's going to be a Windows Mobile device. Has anyone else noticed that NO company has ever made a consistent profit off a Windows Mobile device? Such a device would be immediately judged against the Samsung Instinct that just came out; that is against a new device of a new entrant to the market. The iPhone market would barely twitch. Palm, the supposed market veteran, would have to chop its prices below Samsung to stay in the game, and it cannot afford another second tier $99 giveaway eating at its own declining Treo market.

And the new Linux-based platform they are supposed to be creating? Where/What/When is it? Palm is playing that card so close to its chest, that we don't even have a firm date! We're given no details about it which tells me there are no details to give.

Sadly, I believe Palm's window of opportunity has passed. Even a home run at this point would do no good when they have lost the ball park.

TanToday has it right. Apple is doubling it's physical retail space because it's NOT a one-trick-pony. They make $ on everything and they have a mountain of cash to keep leading with innovation. I know so many people who, after just being in an Apple store for the first time, went back and bought...after being blown away by such wonderful service and helpful attitudes by the entire staff, as well as beautiful products. I'm long on APPL and being in an Apple Store just makes my heart sing! Reply

@F.J Taylor,I hold no position in RIMM nor AAPL...and I didn't say that Apple is going to lose money with the product it will still sell(why I do not know, but who is going to understand people)...but people with know-how in tech cant possibly buy it over RIMM...I have toyed around with both the AAPL products and RIMM products(with rimm products more I admit)...RIMM products are just far superior(not only I think that pick up any tech journal and compare IPHONE Grades to RIMM)...do not even get me started on the touch screen...so unpractical....Their was no comment made on my behalf which stock will do better whatsoever....I am just talking about the phone...

I am sure AAPL will make a decent profit with their phones no doubt.. and RIMM will continue to also experience profits as well....But with all the other businesses AAPL is involved in it is a much safer buy IMO as well....Especially due to RIMM's valuation....But I wasn't talking about stock prices or future trends of those stocks just the phone and it is just a fact that their is many superior phones on the, EUROPEAN, market than the I-Phone(but the I-Phone just like the I-Pod will probably establish itself as a lifestyle product....not because it is so good but because people move in herds)

With kind regards from Germany, aka my little barrel which I live under, where we don't understand anything of technology...I wish I was an American and could have such a complete understanding of not only technology...but also politics, energy policy, free market,(unless Belgiums try to buy your beer company..hah) etc., so if you could enlighten me all wise-one it would be very much appreciated;)CW
