EU regulators drop their antitrust investigation against Rambus (RMBS) after it agrees to cap royalty fees for DRAM memory chip patents. Rambus agrees not to charge any royalties for earlier SDR and DDR chip standards, and to bring fees for newer versions of DDR down to 1.5% from 3.5% for five years. RMBS +4.6% premarket.

Rambus (RMBS +11.8%) can continue pursuing antitrust claims against memory-chip makers, after an appeals court denies Micron Technology's (MU -4.6%) petition to block them. Micron is named in the claims along with Samsung and Hynix Semiconductor.

Nvidia (NVDA +2.1%) says the Patent and Trademark Office has initially rejected eight more Rambus patent claims related to graphics memory controllers, though Rambus (RMBS +1.3%) says this isn't over.
