- Thursday, April 4, 4:47 PM Rosetta Stone (RST) says it's closing all of its iconic yellow kiosk locations and cutting 245 part and full-time employees as it converts to strictly an online operation. The language-learning company made its mark selling language courses through CDs offered in kiosks in malls and airports throughout the world. But kiosk sales have been shrinking, as customers shift away from software in favor of cloud-based and mobile applications. Comment! [Consumer, Tech]

- Monday, December 24, 2012, 8:34 AM Retailers increasingly shift marketing messages and prices on the fly as they harness the enormous amount of consumer data at their fingertips. According to analysis from the WSJ, The biggest factor in this subtle manner companies offer different versions of their online deals to customers is the proximity of a rival's store to the tracked location of an online shopper. Staples (SPLS), Rosetta Stone (RST), and Home Depot (HD) were a few of the firms identified as actively shifting their prices online based on consumer data. Comment! [Consumer]
- Thursday, November 8, 2012, 12:45 PM Midday top 10 gainers: DUSA +38%. PRMW +23%. ARX +22%. RST +22%. ES +19%. FALC +18%. UPIP +18%. SAPE +17%. PRSC +17%. MWW +17%. Midday top 10 Losers: CPRX -62%. - Thursday, November 8, 2012, 10:31 AM Rosetta Stone (RST +19.1%) is doing the exact opposite of what it did 3 months ago, taking off after beating Q3 estimates and raising its 2012 adjusted EBITDA guidance to $8M-$10M from a prior $6M-$8M. International consumer and institutional sales respectively fell 8% and 6% Y/Y in Q3, but U.S. consumer rose 5%, and bookings growth of 9% exceeded flat revenue growth. Rosetta noted on its earnings call that its direct-to-consumer sales efforts in the U.S. are lifting bookings. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Earnings]
- Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 5:02 PM Rosetta Stone (RST): Q3 EPS of -$0.08 beats by $0.05. Revenue of $64.3M (+0.1% Y/Y) beats by $2.1M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech]
- Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 6:51 PM More on Rosetta Stone (RST): Q2 misses across the board. Total revenue decreased 9%, largely due to the rationalization of less efficient kiosks, lower sales internationally and a decline in the Institutional business because of the non-renewal of the Army and Marines contracts last year. Shares -2.6% AH. Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 5:48 PM More on Rosetta Stone's Q2: No explanation is given for the poor results. However, the company notes international consumer sales fell 33% Y/Y to $8.1M, worse than Q1's 14% drop, and U.S. consumer swung from a 52% Q1 increase to a 4% decline. Institutional sales fell 2%, nearly even with Q1. Rosetta is expanding its 2012 adjusted EBITDA guidance range to the downside, but is leaving its revenue guidance unchanged. The Street appears skeptical. RST -23.8% AH. (PR) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 5:27 PM Rosetta Stone (RST): Q2 EPS of -$0.22 misses by $0.07. Revenue of $60.8M (-8.9% Y/Y) misses by $6M. Shares -24% AH. (PR) 1 Comment [Earnings, Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, May 8, 2012, 9:18 AM More on Rosetta Stone's Q1: Consumer unit sales +67% Y/Y, boosted by inventory restocking, though ARPU fell 22%. U.S. consumer was easily the company's strongest segment, +52% Y/Y and 61% of sales. International consumer -14%, Institutional -1%. Opex fell slightly Y/Y in spite of revenue growth. RST is guiding for 2012 revenue of $270M-$285M and EPS of -$0.33 to -$0.20, compared with a consensus of $280.6M and -$0.64. RST +12.4%. (PR) 1 Comment [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, May 8, 2012, 8:46 AM Rosetta Stone (RST): Q1 EPS of -$0.09 beats by $0.32. Revenue of $69.5M (+22% Y/Y) beats by $9.5M. Shares +12.4% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech, On the Move]
