- Thursday, September 24, 2009, 5:11 PM Palm's (PALM -4.7%) high-stakes Pre smartphone faces a setback, as Verizon (VZ) decides not to support the phone in January as expected. The Pre has been exclusively offered on the Sprint (S) network; sources say less-than-blockbuster sales of under a million units are partly to blame. 3 Comments

Comment! - Wednesday, September 16, 2009, 10:24 AM Notwithstanding recent speculation, the chances of Deutsche Telekom (DT -0.5%) acquiring Sprint Nextel (S -0.7%) remain low, Thomas Weisel says, downgrading shares to Marketweight. "Current price levels do not fully reflect recent changes in the Sprint business and the wireless landscape," firm says. Ok, but how about Google (GOOG)? Comment!

Premarket gainers: S +21%. VM +8%. ETFC +8%. THC +8%. CMZ +4%.

Though potentially costly, an offer for Sprint could help boost DT from a distant fourth place in the U.S. market. 1 Comment
- Sunday, September 13, 2009, 4:26 PM Hot off its JV with France Telecom's (FTE) Orange, Deutsche Telekom (DT) is reportedly mulling a bid for Sprint Nextel (S). 1 Comment
- Friday, September 4, 2009, 11:19 AM Sprint (S) will start selling its first Android-based phone in October, which should help Android (GOOG) gain wider acceptance and gives Google access to a larger subscriber base. Until now, Android has only been available through T-Mobile USA (DT). Comment!

Comment! - Friday, August 7, 2009, 9:57 AM Sprint (S) reaches out to the environmentally conscious with a cellphone made from corn-based "bioplastic." The $50 phone beeps when it's time to unplug the charger, and comes in a case made from recycled material. 2 Comments

- Tuesday, July 28, 2009, 12:06 PM Resolving the many objections to Nortel's (NRTLQ.PK) proposed $1.13B unit sale to Ericsson (ERIC): Ontario's finance minister is pressing Canada to block the deal, to keep patents in Canadian hands. Flextronics (FLEX) settles its issues and withdraws objections. Nortel is still working out objections from Sprint Nextel (S), Motorola (MOT) and SNMP Research. Comment!
- Tuesday, July 28, 2009, 8:21 AM Sprint Nextel (S) to acquire Virgin Mobile (VM) in an all-stock deal worth around $5.50/share ($483M). Sprint already owns 13.1% of Virgin, which offers cheap prepaid wireless plans. It will also retire $205M of Virgin's debt. 1 Comment
- Thursday, July 9, 2009, 12:41 PM Sprint Nextel (S +3.5%) and Ericsson (ERIC +0.6%) ink a seven-year, $5B deal in which Sprint will turn over day-to-day operations of its network to ERIC, and focus on developing new products and serving its customers better. Sprint will move about 6,000 workers to Ericsson. Comment!
- Monday, July 6, 2009, 4:42 PM Maybe the Pre isn’t selling so well after all: A survey of 50 Sprint (S) stores finds none are having trouble meeting demand for the Palm Pre (PALM), and 40% report fewer than 10 sales this week. Comment!

Master Che: a close below 1310.00 is quite bearish - a close at or above 1313.25 means we trade sideways tilted up until 6/27
