Friday, May 24, 9:29 AM Beer market winners and losers: Tracking data from Citi Research showed Boston Beer was the big winner over the four-week period ending May 11, although Craft Brew Alliance (BREW) and Heineken (HINKY.PK) also made solid gains, sales up 10.7% and 7.1% respectively. The market share gains came at the expense of Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD) and MillerCoors (SBMRY.PK, TAP) which saw sales slip during the same period. Comment! [Consumer, Global & FX]
Thursday, May 23, 9:15 AM SABMiller (SBMRY.PK) CEO Alan Clarke says most of the brewer's markets are growing, although North America remains sluggish. In Q1, revenue for SABMiller grew 10% to $34.5B while profit came in at $3.27B. The company notes MillerCoors sales were weak but higher-margin Tenth & Blake craft beer sold well. Tuesday, May 7, 7:32 AM MillerCoors (SBMRY.PK,TAP) says total sales increased 1.6% to $1.788B in Q1 M although volume fell 1.9% to 14.51M barrels. Profit dropped 1.2% to $271.9M during the quarter as commodity inflation took a toll. Tuesday, April 23, 6:27 AM SABMiller (SBMRF.PK) COO Alan Clark has become CEO of the beverages group and is replacing Graham Mackay after the latter was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent surgery yesterday.
