- Tuesday, May 7, 4:59 PM More on SandRidge's (SD) Q1 results: Net loss of $493M included a $398M loss on asset sales. Capex for 2013 is now forecast at $1.45B, down from a February forecast of $1.75B. A majority of planned spending will fund its Mississippian program, where SD plans to drill ~425 horizontal producers and 44 disposal wells in 2013. Estimates 2013 production of 32.7M boe. - Friday, May 3, 12:45 PM While TPG-Axon won nearly half the seats on SandRidge Energy's (SD +1.9%) board, it will continue to face an uphill battle to reverse a slumping stock price, a Reuters analysis says. With a sale apparently off the table, SD's future rests on its 2M acres in the Mississippi Lime, but the value of the acreage took a hit when Chesapeake sold some of its stake in the region for far below what analysts had projected. 11 Comments [Energy, On the Move]
- Friday, April 26, 5:29 PM Headlines focused on SandRidge (SD) management have missed a more fundamental issue which may lead to further share weakness, Josh Young writes: Well performance is much worse than expected. Permian Trust (PER) results were so bad that cash was pulled from subordinated unit distributions to fund minimum common unit distributions, which means SD's interest in the asset is generating less cash flow than expected. 4 Comments [Energy]
- Monday, April 8, 9:29 AM SandRidge Energy (SD) +1.2% premarket after its new board outlines steps taken to reduce costs, including selling aircraft and cutting down on advertising and sponsorships, a month after ending a proxy battle with TPG-Axon. SD says it engaged law firm Mayer Brown to review allegations against CEO Tom Ward, and intends to complete the review by June 15. 12 Comments [Energy]
- Tuesday, March 26, 5:23 PM While there’s been a lot of insider selling recently - SandRidge (SD), DirecTV (DTV), Lowe's (LOW) and Starbucks (SBUX), just this month - it’s not enough to concern investors, InsiderScore says. An uptick in selling during the first and fourth quarters is normal because insiders cash in shares for tax purposes during Q4 while restricted stock and options often vest during Q1. 9 Comments [Quick Ideas]
- Friday, March 15, 5:46 PM Departing SandRidge Energy (SD) COO Matthew Grubb will receive a nice exit package: $3M in cash, $6M in fully-vested stock, plus continued use of the company's Oklahoma City Thunder basketball tickets. The resignation was announced on the same day as the settlement with TPG-Axon, but SD says the events are not related. 16 Comments [Energy]
- Thursday, March 14, 12:25 PM Changes made at SandRidge (SD -2.7%) add uncertainty to a company with no near-term growth catalysts and a weak asset base, analysts say. UBS expects SD to "materially underperform” on production and growth; CapitalOne points out that even after any asset sales, SD will still be left with deteriorating Mississippi Lime properties and Gulf of Mexico assets “with minimal large-scale exploration well potential.” 18 Comments [Energy, On the Move]
- Thursday, March 14, 10:50 AM UNG +2.3% following an unexpected drawdown in natural gas storage. The news isn't helping SandRidge (SD -3%) as investors "sell the news" of TPG winning its battle against CEO Tom Ward and the board. 9 Comments [Commodities, On the Move]
- Wednesday, March 13, 4:24 PM SandRidge Energy (SD) reaches an agreement with TPG-Axon: Four of the hedge fund's nominees are immediately appointed to SD's board, and an independent review of the related-party transactions outlined by TPG-Axon will be completed by June 15, at which time the board will determine the status of CEO Tom Ward. Shares +0.6% AH. 30 Comments [Energy]
- Tuesday, March 12, 4:48 PM SandRidge Energy (SD) protests but approves candidates for a new group of directors proposed by TPG-Axon, following last week's court order barring it from resisting nominations forwarded by the hedge fund trying to reshape the company. Shareholders are set to vote Friday on whether to go with TPG's candidates and oust CEO Tom Ward or stick with the current board. 14 Comments [Energy]
- Friday, March 8, 5:41 PM SandRidge Energy (SD) investors win an injunction barring the company's directors from attempting to strong-arm shareholders into rejecting a slate of board candidates backed by TPG-Axon in a March 15 proxy vote. SD has warned that replacing its board would trigger a "proxy put" under a credit agreement that would require it to offer to repurchase $4.3B in senior notes. 14 Comments [Energy]
- Thursday, March 7, 9:46 AM Canaccord cuts its price target for SandRidge Energy (SD -2%) to a measly $1, citing SD's 2013 capital plan and associated capital productivity which embeds $500M-$600M in JV carries vs. prior expectations of $300M-$400M. Meanwhile, responding to a letter from TPG-Axon, CEO Tom Ward tells employees SD's outlook has never been better. (earlier) 4 Comments [Energy, Quick Ideas, On the Move]
- Thursday, March 7, 7:17 AM SandRidge Energy (SD) is downgraded to Sell at BMO with 12-month price target of $4. Yesterday, Goldman maintained its Sell rating even as former Goldmanite Lee Cooperman added to his stake, with analyst Brian Singer saying he doesn't see a path to free cash flow. Shares -2.6% premarket. 3 Comments [Energy, On the Move]

inandoutnevertoolate: I could see it getting back down to 4.50, but IMO it will make 6 by end of June. So I am just holding and looking to add if it falls.

$SD closing in on $5 pin. By end of June I imagine it will be back to $6. Waiting for a double bottom to add. - View all 0 replies

isac mincus: $SD ehh you did good buying at low but personally I think you could ve held to 6. 6-7 is very common for SD -
Internal Aduitor: Another week and I may get back in on $SD, but only if it goes below the $5.10 mark. Otherwise, a buy after the Tom Ward announcement

so excited. A few more down days and I can pick up more $XCO cheap. $7, preferably 6.5-7 would be awesome. $SD around 4.5 would be nice too - View all 0 replies

$SD smart decision to cut costs and the buildings. I like that TPG is getting right to it on cutting cost. can't be worse than ward - View all 2 replies

-
papayamon: Yep, gotta love this. Ward wasted money every way you could imagine. TPG will cut the overhead 75%, to about 1.5% of the market cap.

$SD, My theory on why $SD is getting raped despite the hedge fund taking over. http://seekingalpha.com/p/11vun - View all 10 replies
-
jtoler39: I'm not saying it is a bad investment right now but Ward did some dumb things and buying Dynamic Offshore was one of them. -
jtoler39: Well Tom Ward bought an offshore drilling company when he knew nothing about offshore drilling and payed a silly ridiculous price for it.

I can easily see $SD being bought out @ ~$5. Would be a good fit for $XOM, $CVX or $COP - View all 1 replies

isac mincus: lol and thats just your opinion. I highly doubt they sell under 5 considering their average isn't near that.
