- Thursday, February 2, 2012, 4:27 PM SuccessFactors (SFSF): Q4 EPS of -$0.02 misses by $0.04. Revenue of $100M beats by $4M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech]
- Thursday, February 2, 2012, 7:09 AM SAP announces that it extended its cash tender offer for Successfactors (SFSF) to Feb. 8. Shares of SFSF trade just a hair below the $40 tender price. Comment! [Tech]

- Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 5:35 PM Notable earnings after Thursday's close: APKT, CAVM, CFN, CPT, EW, GILD, GNW, MCHP, NLY, NVLS, PFG, PKI, SFSF, SUN, TTWO, VRTX, WYNN Comment! [Earnings]
- Thursday, January 26, 2012, 1:44 PM "This ain’t your grandfather’s SAP," boasts SuccessFactors (SFSF) CEO Lars Dalgaard, following SAP's deal to acquire his company. Hopes are up that Dalgaard & co. will provide SAP with a better Silicon Valley foothold, and contribute to a culture change that has seen SAP ramp its cloud efforts, target the fast-growing analytics market, and focus more on selling to individual corporate divisions rather than CIOs. 1 Comment [Tech]
- Monday, January 23, 2012, 1:50 PM SuccessFactors (SFSF -0.6%), which is due to be acquired by SAP in an all-cash deal, is off slightly after disclosing the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is investigating the acquisition. Given SAP's minimal presence in the cloud HR software space, the odds of an investigation derailing the merger would appear to be low. Comment! [Tech, M&A]
- Thursday, January 19, 2012, 2:44 PM SAP (SAP -0.2%) says it's extended the expiration date of its tender offer for SuccessFactors (SFSF) by a week to January 25 as the parties haven't yet received approval from federal regulators. Comment! [Global & FX, Tech]
- Friday, January 13, 2012, 5:29 PM While SAP (SAP +2.5%) celebrates its strong Q4 performance (I, II), high-flying Workday, which recently filed for an IPO, is hatching plans to challenge SAP and Oracle's (ORCL) dominance of the lucrative ERP software market, via cloud solutions tailor-made for the needs of services companies. Workday also competes with recent SAP acquisition target SuccessFactors (SFSF) in the cloud HR software space. Comment! [Tech]
- Friday, December 16, 2011, 10:24 AM Salesforce.com's (CRM +1.8%) acquisition of Rypple is a "bold step" into the human capital management market, Susquehanna says, praising CRM’s plan to embed Rypple’s software, which allows managers and employees to set objectives and get reward badges on profile pages, into products like Sales Cloud and Chatter as giving it an edge on rivals Taleo (TLEO) and SuccessFactors (SFSF). Comment! [Tech, M&A]
- Thursday, December 15, 2011, 4:55 PM Salesforce.com (CRM) is buying yet another startup (previously). The target this time is Rypple, a provider of cloud human resources software that counts Facebook as a customer. In a not-so-subtle jab at rival and SAP acquisition target SuccessFactors (SFSF), Salesforce plans to rename Rypple's offerings "Successforce." 3 Comments [Tech, M&A]
- Wednesday, December 7, 2011, 9:59 AM Taleo (TLEO) CEO Mike Gregoire, whose company's shares took off following SAP's purchase of rival SuccessFactors (SFSF), expresses skepticism about the former's ability to integrate the latter, particularly given SAP's limited success with cloud software thus far. As for speculation Oracle (ORCL) will make a bid for Taleo? "We don't comment on that kind of speculation. But a first year MBA student could connect the dots." Comment! [Tech, Quick Ideas, M&A]
- Monday, December 5, 2011, 1:17 PM Though many are extolling the benefits (I, II, III) of SAP's (SAP -0.5%) purchase of SuccessFactors (SFSF +51.2%), concerns about the deal's price are weighing on shares. Meanwhile, Chris Kanaracus sees challenges in integrating SuccessFactors' software with SAP's numerous products, and Jeffrey M. Kaplan is worried about a culture clash. Cowen views SAP's buy as a defensive move aimed at slowing down Workday's advance. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, M&A]
- Monday, December 5, 2011, 10:06 AM Shares of Concur Technologies (CNQR +12.1%) rocket higher, following other (I, II) cloud names getting a push from SAP's play for SuccessFactors (SFSF +51.2%). 1 Comment [On the Move, Tech]

Losers: REGN -8%. FSIN -6%. Comment! [On the Move] - Monday, December 5, 2011, 9:09 AM Taleo (TLEO) +15.7% premarket after BMO Capital Markets upgrades shares and raises its target price to $40, following SAP's bid for Taleo rival SuccessFactors (SFSF). Investors will view Taleo as "the most obvious acquisition candidate and that Oracle is the most obvious buyer," but BMO also likes its low relative valuation and 20%-30% billings growth rate, on par with SFSF. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, M&A]
- Monday, December 5, 2011, 8:29 AM Salesforce.com (CRM) is up 2.8%, joining Taleo (TLEO) and NetSuite (N) in rising premarket in the wake of SAP/SFSF, even though its size (current market cap of $16.3B) makes it tougher for a would-be acquirer to swallow. Also higher: ULTI +1.6%. LPSN +3%. Other names haven't yet seen premarket activity, but could move once markets open. 1 Comment [Tech, M&A, On the Move]
