A split decision on Sirius XM (SIRI), as Lazard Capital boosts the target price for the shares and BGB Securities downgrades. Both analysts praise strong subscriber momentum and the new $700M debt raise, but where Lazard believes the refinancing "de-risks the balance sheet" and frees up capital, BGB sees a smaller upside.

Reports of Sirius XM Radio's (SIRI +4.5%) demise may have been exaggerated, but shareholders shouldn't ignore a pending investigation into its consumer practices by some U.S. states. Still, there are signs of progress: the company’s new-subscriber growth tripled in Q3, and it plans to sell up to $550M in eight-year notes to refinance short-term debt.

Three "overextended" stocks John Dorfman would sell right now: Las Vegas Sands (LVS), Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) and OpenTable (OPEN). But he likes three "unglamorous" stocks: Ross Stores (ROST), World Fuel Services (INT) and National Presto Industries (NPK).

It could be a blessing in disguise if Howard Stern leaves Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) soon, since the company should keep attracting listeners without the burden of Stern's $500M contract. "They can grow without him," one analyst believes, adding that Stern no longer brings in significant numbers of new listeners.

Sirius XM (SIRI +7%) raises its subscriber guidance and projects the addition of 1.1M net subscribers for 2010 - the third guidance increase of the year. But there are so many shares outstanding that the company would need to make hundreds of millions of dollars in profits just to post a real penny or two of earnings.
