The Benefits of Shifting to CNG for Fuel [view article]
Phil Gramm was right! We've become nothing but a nation of whining babies, waiting for government handouts. McCain had to get rid of him, so he or Obama could give us our marching orders next year. It makes me SICK to see what's happened to us. So just until January 2009, when the fun really begins! Reply

The Big 3 and Toyota all manufactured CNG and dual fuel vehicles (CNG and gasoline) in the U.S. between 2000-05, but quit due to poor sales. Gasoline was too cheap then, but it's not now. Only Honda still makes one, the Civic GX, which the EPA says is the CLEANEST car they ever tested for air pollutants.

Pickens owns a GX by the way, along with a "Phill," which is a device that refills CNG vehicles from NG in your HOME. So if you have access to NG, you can use it with any of the above vehicles to run on CNG today, or you can easily convert your present car or truck to do so.

This is not to say we shouldn't explore for more domestic oil and gas. Of course we should. Our so-called energy crisis is only a lack of will to GET WITH IT, then, and end OPEC's (and the Democrat's and Green's) control of our economy and way of life!

Call it what you want, bear market of not, but my oil portfolio of BPT, HGY, LGCY, PBT, PWE and PVX is up 100% with no DRIP, from three years ago and has paid a 12% dividend return over the same period.

This has meant my overall portfolio is still 10% annually into the black with only 30% of my money in oil.

Who you gonna' listen to? Kurt Wulff, or the CNBC and Wall Street pundits that called the bottom to the financials in January? Given those choices, I like Kurt Wulff! Reply

Oil only goes up on news from Iran, Nigeria, Russia, or some other hell hole, causing a "potential" problem (and the rise usaully happens overnight it seems.) The supply demand excuse has run the course, so the bulls now need blips of news. I'm short on oil for now. We keep seeing lowers lows. Reply

If this market doesn't doesn't decline at least 20% more, I see a stagnate market developing for at least the next 5 years. Oil $ is too much of a burden. There's no reason to be holding long positions in this market until at least that 20% additional correction comes.

I expect a major decline coming within the next 8 weeks to a new lower trading range. Bear market charts make a major move lower to a new trading range about every 6-7 months. The volume will inevitably dry up late summer.

    And about lawyers.

    Let's discuss visibility aka viz.

Contact all the papers, letters to the editor, call the investigative reporters.

This may not work. But this is true

    These bottom feeders hate visibility.

Q What's the difference between a lawyer and a carp?
A One is a slimy, bottom-feeding, mud-sucking scavenger. The other is a fish.

    Cheers

Katta , about same proportions of CNG use here in Thailand also.

What i don't understand is why the USA has their head up their ass still . Could it be political or other?

The only reason why you should own any stock at this market is because of its dividend, which should be above 5%. But then do further research. Don't buy into Wall Streets hoopla. Rob Ivanoff wallastoninvestments.c.../ Reply

Whether it's oil, gas, coal alternatives, nuclear reactors, oil shale, or whatever other realistic resources that are presently available to increase our domestic energy supplies, the BRIC countries have ONE BIG advantage over us. They just go DO IT, they don't have to wait YEARS to run the gauntlet of NEPA's, regulators and lawsuits. We need to look at SERIOUS REFORMS here, as well, if we're going to be able to COMPETE in the global economy in the future.

Holly COW. Barron's is going back to it's core principles. This is the first SA Barron's article that I can remember (last couple of months) that doesn't put a positive spin on the MARKET.
Airlines, Housing, Financials and Real Estate are well into bear territory. With few exceptions there are no places to hide. This is a traders market not an investors market yet. Real bargains will emerge. We'll all know what there are (were) in about 2-5 years.

Based on USG numbers, only 1.5 percent of oil is used for power generation in the US. Yes, my references also point to 20 million barrels of oil aday in the US.

Natural gas increases will have to come from unconventional sources, such as shale. That's the big one right now. But here again, the limitations are a heck of alot of water usage. Empasis on "heck of alot"
Enviro hawks will probably stop alot of unconventional gas recovery as well. Like it or not, we still need more domestically produced oil, which ironically, has the lowest enviro footprint if conventionally produced.of all the natural hydro carbons.
But the enviro nuts can't or won't talk about that.

for confirmation of water usage in shale and tight sands gas extraction see Argonne National Labs Report on same, either late last year or early this.

I don't see any stability returning to the market until the elections are over... And if the capital gains tax rate increases it could be quite a bit longer. Reply
